Hi, I normally use 18g of coffee with a ratio of 2:1, IKAPE recommend 22g of coffee, what ratio do you use?

@humphreybradley3060 - Hi there! The standard coffee-to-water ratio is 1:2 for espresso. You can experiment with a slightly different ratio according to your taste. Oh yes, iKape recommends 22g of coffee grounds for their 58mm Bottomless portafilter with a built-in High Extraction Filter Basket. In our opinion, 18g is fine. It's best to do your own experiment/test & decide from there. Cheers!

thanks for the review. i've been using MHW's blind shaker for quite a while (58mm version), and it "creates" round wide circles in the basket when you put it on top of the portafilter, as it sits inside the basket. from your experience, is the iKape blind shaker any different ? i couldn't tell from the video, as you knocked it a couple of times on the counter after releasing the grounds to the basket. i find myself doing some light WDT after pouring the grounds from the MHW blind shaker, which is quite annoying and a bit too much work, so i consider buying the iKape shaker to see if it's any better

After the dosing, the iKape Coffee Blind Shaker that is still sitting on the portafilter basket, there is a need to tap onto the tamping mat a few times so that the coffee grounds can collapse nicely into the filter basket. Once that was done with the blind shaker lifted, we did not observe any noticeable circular gap between the coffee grounds & the edge of the filter basket (if that is your concern). Cheers!

The Metal Smart Palm Electronic Scale V3 is water resistant & NOT waterproof. The built-in Bluetooth is for the connection with a near future App which is still under development. Cheers!

Why would they design this with fixed non-replaceable needles? Those are the weakest and hence first parts to get damaged. What then? Is this device meant to be disposable because it becomes useless if the needles are damaged and can't be replaced. That is a major design flaw.

@coreymbonge9532 - Hi there! Thanks for your input. iKape initial plan was to include a few replaceable needles (as still printed on the label) but they decided not to. Due to its unique design, it will be too much of a hassle for the user to replace the needles. Anyway, we have been using the Rotary WDT Tool almost daily with no visible needle damage. If you use it with care and always place it back onto the base after use, we do not expect any damage to the needles. Cheers!

@shiningm4649 - Hi there! Thanks for your enquiry. I'm afraid there is no way to turn OFF the auto shutdown feature after 2 minutes of inactivity. What you can do is tap on the silicone mat (on the top part of the scale) to reset the shutdown timer if you need a longer time to prepare. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Woow! I just got this scale and I was so surprised to read on instruction “please do not charge after the power is exhausted”. What is that mean. Once battery died you are not allowed to charge it? That’s it? Game over for $45 scale?

Wouldn’t it be better to put the tube and the funnel directly on the scale? This makes less steps in the workflow. Unless the bomber tubes are of different weights… The kamel tubes I have are all identical in weight. Good video though.

@kraptor11 - Hi there! Thanks for your input & sharing. There are many ways to have the tubes filled with roasted coffee beans, find one that suits your workflow best. We have taken the consideration that the base of the tubes is small & when placed on the mini coffee scale, the chances of toppling are high during multiple filling processes (will need a few rounds of filling to your intended amount). As such, we would rather use a measuring cup with a larger base to avoid any unexpected scenario. Cheers!

thank you for the presentation of such a well thought and build espresso and coffee grinder. which al least for me has several advantages over the "first mover" in this segment the (meanwhile gen 2) g-iota DF 64: magnetic chute, black anodized housing , smaller and more elegant design, anti static design without the need of ionization e.g., easier adjustment of grinding degrees(with selectable clicks - can be dismounted-), better visible scale ("vertically" print instead horizontally scale). MUCH MORE SOPHISTICATED AND INDIVIDUALLY SPECIFIC CONSTRUCTED MOUNT FOR SSP FLAT BURRS which much better alignment. But one question concerning the sound level demonstration at approximately 07:15 - was this recorded with or without the lid? afaik WITH lid it is much more muted... please let me know

I don't like the metal frame touching the tubes. It will definitely scratch the tube after a while.

@sibaraku2023 - Hi there! Thanks for your input & understand your concern. Good to know that the holes on the metal frame are not made just fit for the tubes (with good gap allowance). As such, the chances of scratching the tubes are not possible when removing & inserting, unless you are a rough handler. We have been using it for a few days already & don't see any scratches on the tubes. You can put your concern at ease ;) Cheers!

@mcgKW - Hi there! Thanks for your input & sharing. We have noticed that also but that doesn't bother us. Our iKape magnetic funnel sits nicely onto the portafilter with HE & during the dosing process, the funnel still sits nicely & did not fall off. Cheers!
