Thanks so much for this video. I have been considering one of these since they were announced. I have the Mamod Brunel and have really enjoyed it. One thing… the wobble. My Brunel wobbled like that and I found it distracting. I emailed Mamod and they immediately sent me a new set of wheels and axels. My Brunel was riveted so I had to drill out the rivets and then use screws after but the wobble is now gone. I recently got two engines so… hmmm… start saving again? Lol

Why is steam constantly being released where the whistle is on the real Loco? I've seen this on all the videos for this logo. Is this where the safety is and are folks simply running too much boiler pressure?
@SamutheHamu3 жыл бұрын
That is not a steam turbine that is a Diesel.
@LIVSTM3 жыл бұрын
It is in fact a steam turbine. It has a boiler, that is fired by a vaporizing alcohol burner, that produces steam to turn a turbine that turns a generator. The generator produces electricity for the traction motors on the axels. The only common thing with a diesel is the traction motors on the axles. But having traction motors doesn't make it a diesel. Same as having traction motors on a Trolley doesn't make that a diesel either. The motive power for this model is steam. The motive power for a diesel is a diesel engine, which this model does not have.

Are those post PVCs? Looks like the cement bases are just sitting on the ground? And what's the table material? Nice job to overcome that steep grade! Nice multi-track layout too.

Gas-Electric. The starter motor becomes the generator. Each axle had a brushless motor to power the unit.
@scottmcdonald8544 жыл бұрын
Correction: Front-truck only had the traction motors. Not every axle on the three unit consist.
