My father’s college best friend had one of those in the same silver with the red interior! Left hand drive with the fins. Probably a 1963. I always love that car! Still do!

You'd love my MGB on your 'Forecourt'. It's a pre April 67 GT in the lovely GT only colour of 'Sandy Beige', with black leather and white piping. The paint is 95% percent original and the car is totally rust free - being an Australian import from near new. It has a Tudor Webasto sunroof (from new) and chrome wire wheels. The interesting aspect of this car is how the first owner in the 1960s added interior improvements i.e. seats raised by an inch (improves driving position); parcel tray under glove box; central leather console with lift up armrest!; headrests to front seats (done in the 60s) ; repositioned Overdrive to gearstick; under bonnet lights from a Rover P5 and much more. They all look 'period', he was clearly a very talented engineer. Someone looking at the car today if they didn't know 'Bs' would swear it was factory. LASTLY - I owned this very GT in the 1980s, selling it in June 1988. I found it 4 sale by chance online in April this year, it's now back in my ownership after 36 years. It still looks terrific, testament to its four owners after I sold it.

Wasn't the central body shell or 'tub' from the A-pillar back used from the 1947/48 Morris 8-series E as the basis of the Y-Type styling? Looks virtually identical. MG chassis and mechanicals being quite different etc including interior trim etc.

Amazing story, stunning car - they are only original once! But can I recommend you get a 'muffler' or a 'Muff' for the microphone as the buffeting from the wind makes listening to your dialogue quite difficult.

It looks like a special series engine. It should have two 1 inch SU carburettors of an earlier pattern to the one shown, not one on THAT manifold. That Riley 9 would have originally had one Solex carb. Magneto was standard fitment until 1933 models when coil and distributor became standard.

I was at the Brooklands classic car event on Sunday, and saw this car's sister. It was very similar, but had a late 1930s Marshall supercharger installation with much stronger vertical drive. The standard ones had a habit of breaking. It also had a cylinder head with central vertical inlet ports.

Can't help loving a 2CV!. Such a classic shape and sound. Have to say, I'm not overly keen on the two tone paint like this "plum and custard" example, I'd rather a single colour. At school in the 80's in the Shetland Islands, I remember one teacher having a grey 2CV and another had a yellow Renault 4. The 2CV is undoubtably the more iconic design, but the R4 is actually the better car (especially with the 1100cc engine). I'd have either (or both) in a heartbeat though☺☺

I believe these iconic vehicles are akin to the "reproduced Beetle" both have a unique appeal in a strangely different way" I recall the fondness of owners of both.

What do you mean by, "reproduced Beetle"?
@takata98
@takata98 2 ай бұрын
@@badbusdriver7160 A bad choice of words perhaps, "redesigned" would have been more suitable. Though both unique in their own right both the Citroen and the Original VW Beetle for their quirkiness and then the redesigned Beetle have a unique appeal and loyal following.
