Thanks! You’ve been very helpful. But when I programmed my song using preset patterns the drum kit changes with some of the pattern changes. How do you program a song using the same (one) drum kit for every preset pattern?

You have to EDIT the preset pattern(s) with the offending drum kit(s)..... by saving them to User memory and then use those user memory pattern(s) in your song ...... you have 100 user memory slots for your own custom patterns ..... think of it, 100 customized user patterns !!! ...... the preset patterns have different drum kits because they are supposed to "show off" the fact that the SR18 can be used for ANY genre of music.... they are just a guide to what the SR18 can do ...... you are supposed to create your own patterns and string them together for your own songs, but you do NOT have to start "from scratch" .... you save a lot of time by copying the presets you want to User memory and then just tweaking them for your song (in your case changing the kit) .... best wishes 🙂

they are 1/4 inch jacks..... the whole "beast" 😂 is about 4 feet wide by about 2 1/2 feet high ..... so the longest patch cable to connect any jack to any other jack on the instrument is 5 feet (which are the cables with the "green sleeves" )...... the patch you see in the photo uses 62 patch cables ( 12 brown (1 foot length) 25 red (2 foot length) 16 orange (3 foot length) 6 yellow (4 foot length) 3 green (5 foot length) ) ..... and I have some patch cables left over in 1 - 4 foot range .... these will be used to add various modulation and effects options in my upcoming videos ..... at this stage of patching the analog phaser module, the reverb module and the LFO module are unused ..... and so are Sample and Hold as well as Ring Modulator .... lots of possibilities ! .... thanks for your interest in my videos 👍

Second workaround: try to see if the MIDI slave (sound source) responds to MIDI "Master Coarse Tune" messages. FASCINATING 👍.... thanks for going to the trouble to post all these SysEx commands 😁..... clearly you fall into the category of "a power user" who is "adept at the use of modern music technology" ....... unfortunately the majority of viewers of my videos are "seriously challenged" when it comes to using the equipment (they are musicians NOT technical gurus).... the success of my channel (if you can call it "success") is based on EXPLAINING what I find in the Owner's Manual in such a SIMPLE way that even a child can follow the steps........ however, thanks for your comment and you definitely "made my day" 👍🙂

Touch response is NOT POSSIBLE from the DX27 keyboard for the simple reason that the keyboard is NOT touch sensitive ..... however, if you are using another keyboard that is touch sensitive to CONTROL the DX27 (using MIDI) then the internal tones of the DX27 can respond to the "touch information" coming from the external keyboard .... Octave shift value is programmed for every tone, therefore the only way to shift the octaves up or down is to go into the EDIT mode and change the programmed value (not very convenient during a "performance" )

The above is INSUFFICIENT information for me to help you .... once you go into Edit Mode, the Menu of possible options is accessed ..... rotating the big knob right next to the display scrolls thru the available options .... if this does not happen, then your unit requires either hardware service or firmware reload

I finally fell down the rabbit hole and within less than two weeks I purchased an 84HP powered case (with MIDI to CV converter) and 9 active modules to fill it up! 😆I designed it to expand my existing semi-modular setup but it can stand on its own with an external sequencer. Thanks for video!!

thanks for this tuto! Does anyone knows if it's possible and how to simultaneously make the ES9 communicate between Mirack and Ableton? eg : I want to monitor audio from my modular rig from ES9 audio 1 to Ableton and use an LFO from mirack out of ES9 to my modular rig.

When working with the sequencer and your song is becoming long and you need to make modifications. Each time you do make a modification the song returns back to the start. 😬 Is there a setting in the system to stop it from doing that? I’ve look… It’s the biggest pain and a killer for your ideas and inspiration. That is the #1 issue with the Roland FA.

There are a lot of things about this keyboard that are "bare bones" ..... there is NO WAY around your issue of "returning to the start of your sequence" and having to search through the whole thing again to continue your edits.... but that's not all .... as you store more and more songs, there is NO WAY to search, sort or favorite songs ..... so welcome to "scrolling through hundreds of songs" trying to spot the one you are looking for ! This is NOT a "professional keyboard" ..... if you want that ..... spend twice the money and get a genuine FANTOM or a Yamaha Montage or a Korg Nautilus ...... we put up with the FA only because "it's cheaper and we cant do any better" ..... anybody who can afford it, usually buys a better "top of the line" keyboard ..... sorry but that's the "hard truth" 😢

@@StephenMendes My FA-07 does a pretty good job for not being a FANTOM. One day maybe I’ll invest in a FANTOM. I have to be in the mood to want to learn a new operating system. I doubt the two are even close to being compatible .

To clarify .... there are ONLY 16 tracks .... and so, only 16 can be playing at the same time ..... however, what this video is trying to show, is that you can SWITCH "groups" of TONES at any point in time .... so the number of TONES you use in a song can be virtually unlimited (however only 16 can be playing at any one instant in time)

Also the pitch shifter works even better if you turn the dry signal balance on the right (D:E) to zero so you can only hear the effect and not the original vocal mixed on top

it appears you are trying to play the Roland VR-09 from your MIDI controller keyboard .... the first basic step (after plugging in MIDI cable) is to set the TRANSMIT channel of your MIDI controller to match the RECEIVE channel(s) of your Roland VR-09 (Set Channel 4 on your MIDI controller to play the Upper Part and Channel 3 to play the Lower Part .... there is no split point when using external keyboard)...... in the VR-09 Menu, you select MIDI and then you set the "MIDI IN Mode" to Mode 2 ..... unfortunately you can only play the keyboard from your MIDI controller (because changing tones of Piano and Synth voices cannot be done using Program Change it requires SysEx messages which most MIDI controllers cannot handle)... D-110 is the real 80´s drum set - very nice sound and not "too perfect" but alway present - funny that you can pitch the whole drum kit with the pitch bend and so you can use it for ambient stuff 😊

Both the "line in" and the "guitar/mic" sockets use the SAME ADC (and have the same signal path) .... the only difference between these sockets is the "input level" ... and of course, one is stereo and the other mono ..... therefore it is IMPOSSIBLE to have reverb on one of these sockets and not have it on the other .... sorry to disappoint you, that is just the way this keyboard is made... but thanks for your question anyway.

I believe this happens automatically when in sequencer mode...... each sound (track in the sequencer) is on a different MIDI channel .... however, when layering sounds, I would need to check this for you

The MIDI is only good for backing up and restoring the internal memory ...... during "performance mode" the ONLY thing that works is the TIMING signals ...... MIDI clock .... it's a pathetic excuse for a drum machine but Alesis is known for cheap gear .... I bought it to replace a Yamaha RX11 but I have never really used it for any purpose besides making a couple KZbin videos (which have proved to be immensely popular because the printed User Manual has no index and is the worst written piece of garbage) ..... sorry to be so blunt about it.

He IS coming quickly ..... "in the twinkling of an eye" (1 Corinthians 15:52) ... when He comes ..... but He is delayed for right now ..... because God is waiting a little longer for the "chosen" to be saved and bear fruit. (2 Peter 3:9)

Thank you so much for your sharing! I also got my Mutant Brain Modular recently. I tried the 4 notes chord mode, depends on your configuration, but only 1st gate output working. Other 3 gates have no LED illuminated, and of course no signals out…When I tried the 4 notes cycle mode, everything works good. Is that expected? Thank you!
