Champion auto stores is a MN company, my dad worked at their headquarters. I think you looked up champion auto parts. Their mascot would have been perfect on the new state flag!

Belated Birthday wishes / pre birthday wishes for next year 🎂 The Charly says set of adverts (as George says, there's a set of them), are all available on the ' Charly Says' DVD , which may still be in print (and possibly discounted if it is), which is a compilation of the original two video cassette volumes of mostly British Public information films from the 1940s to the early 1980s (or PIF' s as they're known in the UK). The best ones, are invariably from the 1970s. Never underestimate the power of a British 1970s PIF; they're over directed, over acted, and contained the cream of British RADA trained actors doing ultra powerful, and seriously ultra dramatic Voiceovers.

You can never have too many sound effects. Especially when Scott was demonstrating the trick shot(s) towards the end.

Re-watching from episode 100, this was the most contentious one ever!

I saw the video of the celebrity tour bus stopping at his house when he was actually home, and he was so incredibly welcoming, and humble, and down to earth to everyone on the bus. Great video.

Me and two buddies spent much of one summer drinking beer and playing billiards at my parents house. One day we needed a table brush or something really specifc, and we spent the afternoon driving around to sporting good stores with zero success, until we drove by an All American Recreation. Instantly remembering the commercial, we gleefully pulled in and obtained our long sought after billiards supplies.

For the magic show intro I think “Stairway to Heaven” is good but I think “Freebird” is perfect! Imagine the guitar jam at the end. Of course the other obvious option is “For the Longest Time”, which if I’m being honest, I also loathe. Also new hard rule: no canoodling with chili on a bus. Ever. With anyone. “Hey! You stole our sandwich cart!” That’s a T-shirt that’s difficult to explain right there.

"All Shook Down" is a much better album than it's given credit. I voted for All Around but it was difficult to ignore my brain reminding me Jolly Green Giant is objectively the best jingle. "She Drives Me Crazy" by Fine Young Cannibals is my suggestion for the crowd "sing-a-long".

Including so many national commercials seems contrary to the original purpose of the regional commercial jingle contest. I thought it was about discovering unusual regional obscurities rather than nostalgia for things everyone of a certain age has heard.

Yeah, that and I could never choose a Pizza Hut jingle because their pizza is fucking disgusting.

I had the honor of seeing Richard Simmons at the Mall of America. He was in the rotunda and he was doing one of his workout routines with a giant group of people all in sync to Richard who was up on stage doing his workout routine. I remember everyone was wearing striped clothing like Richard. Even at the young age of maybe 6 or 7 I knew that what I was witnessing was something spectacular. 😂
