If that soap were anything like the current WCS Duck Fat Soap, then the amount of soap you started with in the bowl appears to be more than 20 times as much as you need. One eighth of a teaspoon's worth is enough for , once the lather is built, five or so passes.

Was that soap similar to or same as current WCS Duck Fat shaving soap?

The CF Legacy in titanium ls my favorite DE ever. The combination of large gap and virtually no exposure is almost a cheat code, especially for those of us who naturally like to shave with a shallow angle. I have collected and tried dozens of razors, so it, in some ways, makes me a tiny bit sad to say that I think I mau have found my forever razor in the CF Legacy.

if you do end up seeing this - i never knew what a "close shave" was until today after getting a good lather. i used a new blade, effective lather and a quality soap and got the best shave i've ever had today and i'm sure it goes up from here. you definitely played a part in that too, so thank you very much. made my week.

@@mfreedberg What’s your opinion on using the alum block first, then using witch hazel, and then an aftershave lotion? I’ve seen a couple of people recommend those three items.

I use CREMO Shaving Cream as a pre-shave. It goes on quite dry but you add water to it and rubbing it in until it becomes super slick. Then you paint the lather over top and shave. In between passes, I never rinse. I wet my hand and wipe excess lather away. That way it retains slickness.

How do you know when to switch to the other blade edge? Is it just by feel or do you use one edge for pass one, then the other pass two, etc. ?

In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" tallow (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Wheelchair Larry Happy New Year. Your Mileage may vary?

Excellent soap, the SV Felce Aromatica. Got the version 4.3 here and couldn't be happier if I tried. That vintage Gillette razor sounds like a straight razor, really raw and very classic.

Wish someone would do a video on how to fix the blade gap. Mine isn’t the same on both sides of the razor. A tune up costs $30 and I’m sure it’s fairly simple to do at home.

Great shave Michael. I have owned all the Karve’s, presently or in past metals, and my favorite right now is the Bison on a 3.25’ Knopf handle. (I know this one in your video was 3.25 as it was originally mine.) The Bison is smoother, more nimble and as efficient as the CB or Overlander. Blade clamping is perfection. Chris is doing remarkable work. Really unbelievable.

I got one of these razors sent from Indian. The base plate was not symmetrical and the guard stuck out about 1.5mm more on one side compared to the other. Not sure how much it would have affected the shave as I never used it. Quite disappointed. I also have a made in England 1970's Tech, and a Chinese Gillette. Both hold the blade well-aligned - though needless to say the 1970's Tech is the pick of the bunch.

Seems like a few gents prefer the CB to the overlander. I’ll have to think about it more. While I enjoy having plate options I also enjoy 1 and done razors….yet you have no adjustment short of a shim if you don’t.

Nice video Michael. Your review of the Karve stainless steel makes it a very attractive razor. Please advise; between a Karve SS, a rex Envoy and Edwin Jagger 3one6, which one would you recommend if one has to make one choice only from the three as a daily efficient and comfortable razor? Please advise.

Couldn’t agree more on the fact that it bugs me that these people will make razors and not take pride to stamp date codes! Rex Supply does a FANTASTIC job with this! Matt takes the Gillette date code process and it’s a sign that he is not just “milling metal” he actually cares about the history and has the vision. Others need to mimic this (Blackland for example, charging an arm and a leg for their brand new revolutionary in their mind Osprey… but can’t laser in a date🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️) just seriously grinds me🤣
