Fantastic from the States!! I am currently deciding on a 2009 Forester XT w/60,000 miles in 2024. Is this car in your opinion a Keeper? This was a Great Day Already and dont feel bad about not trying the "Mountain of Rocks"! a Little to Narley for the Liking! Cheers for having the sense Not to!

Hey mate! Although they are getting a bit old now I've had mine for about 8 years so I'd say it's a keeper. I ended up going back and having a go at that section in a more recent video 👍🏻

Cool subaru, havn't seen a forester with KM3s before. @10:10 you've got to be considering lockers, not great digging out tracks like that
@MontyScott
@MontyScott 17 күн бұрын
Thanks mate, yeah I haven't seen many running the KM3s! Yep some lockers and lower gearing would go a long way! Unfortunately there's not many options for my particular setup.

If that Foster had X - mode it would be a completely different story. None of that wheel spinning in the air non-stop.
@MontyScott
@MontyScott 17 күн бұрын
Yeah X-mode would help for sure however it still has the VDC system which is effectively the older version of X-mode... They're both a reactive system that relies on wheel spin to activate unlike lockers but VDC can take some time to react! X-mode seems to be much faster to react 👍🏻

Hey mate, the 2013 is the dark one and it's completely stock. The silver one on the other hand is a 2012 and it IS an automatic however it's a 5eat that is only available on the S-edition that was available in select markets. It's got an invedia dump pipe with a Hi-Tec mufflers cat back 👍🏻

Hey mate, it is 3 inch back to the just before the y pipe I believe and then it steps down slightly to maybe a 2.5 then the y pipes themselves might be 2.25? It's been a while so I don't remember exactly but it's something like that 👍🏻

Sorry if you feel this way, however this car has given me so many fantastic experiences over the years and taken me all over the country! I have modified it to enjoy it and that is exactly what I'm doing here! Although I'm considerably hard on the car I take really good mechanical care of it - I keep up maintenance on anything that needs doing more often than not upgrading anything that I'm changing and I keep the oil fresh changing it regularly with top quality oil and a genuine filter 👌🏻it's all part of the fun 😊👍🏻

Good recovery Monty - as mentioned in a previous comment I’ve owned several Subarus including WRX and original Forester the last being a 2009 XT automatic - over the years I kept getting stuck on boggy tracks and steep ascents - even with aired down mud tyres - I concluded that I needed increased ground clearance and wheel articulation but not possible without huge engineering changes and costs - so I settled for an auto diesel Hilux with 4WD options, good ground clearance all standard and aluminium canopy setup - I still use the XT for bitumen and light off-road touring.

Hi, I have new 2.5L Outback. Took it to the Bribie Island a couple of times. Not problems at all. I have KO2 AT tyres and a bash plate. Have been thinking to lift it with spacers or Ironman suspensions. But many people questions about the CV joint issues. Have you got any troubles modifying and any recommondations at all? Thanks
@MontyScott
@MontyScott 8 ай бұрын
Hey mate, sounds like a good trip! I have had a pretty good run with my CVs... I put new OEM Axel's in the front when I installed the lift and have done well over 100k kms since then with no issues. I would recommend doing the lift first then if you have any issues replace the axles with OEM and they should be good if you go for a 2 inch lift or less 👍🏻
@LeoZhou0424
@LeoZhou0424 8 ай бұрын
Hi, does the lift kit cause any problems with CV joint at all?
@MontyScott
@MontyScott 8 ай бұрын
I put new genuine CVs in the front when I put the lift in about 100k kms ago and have never broken one... Mind you I have replaced a couple but only because of damaged boots. From what I've seen genuine CVs are the go and you have to be somewhat mindful of them by not going crazy while the steering is at full lock and try not to come down from a big wheel lift with full throttle and the lifted wheel spinning really fast... Keep things like that in mind and you should be sweet 👍🏻

@@MontyScott Thank you so much for your information. I have been thinking to have a set of Ironman ATS which gives 1.5-2 inches lift on my new Outback. It is my everyday car so I can't transform it into a monster. I've talked to the Ironman headquarter they said they have no reports regarding CV joint issues globally, but who knows. Currently I have Black Rhino Boxer wheels plus KO2 AT yres, and a Subaxtreme sump guard. I only want to drive it to the beach, the final goal will be Fraser Island. Do you have any recommondations between spacers and suspension lift please?
