For guys, its probably a little easier because our clothes are very basic. Aside from the obvious tip of not following trends, buy clothes that actually fit. I lost around 50lbs a couple years ago, and I still have yet to fully replace all of my oversized clothes. If you don't have clothes that really fit you, go to any clothing store with a changing room, bring a tape measure, and measure the stuff that fits you so that you can always buy with confidence. Things like pants can be tailored, so don't worry about the length and width of the legs too much, just make sure the waist stays up without needing a belt and there's enough room for the boys. Went into the thrift store last week and grabbed 4 items - shorts, pants, t shirt, long sleeve t shirt. Cost me $15 and they all fit perfectly when I tried them on at home because I measured them at the store. The pants just need to be hemmed and tapered to my liking. Understand your core preferences and your fit, and it should be easy to only buy what you actually need.

I feel like a lot of the Western monochromatic influencers are, knowingly or not, probably inspired by acubi fashion, a Korean style that heavily emphasizes black, white, and grey in avant-garde, layered shapes.
@Grace.Robinson12 күн бұрын
I don't know a lot about acubi fashion specifically, but I 100% agree that it has come from a influence outside of western fashion. It's very interesting and thanks for the comment!

I have my “rough n tumble” clothes (cotton knits, casual t-shirts, leggings, workout wear, etc.) that I don’t mind running through the washing machine and dryer, but if it’s something much nicer, I will take the time to hand wash.

Loved when you said its good to don't buy everything from same place. I think it's so true. Here in Barcelona many people buys from Zara and you can see from far away it's Zara. Or same with vintage, i find owning all your wardrobe from second hand places might make it look too worn out/washed. Also hard to find your right fit in vintage. Meanwhile combining with new pieces and modern fits make it more interesting. Just my personal opinion :)💕
@Grace.Robinson23 күн бұрын
I also struggle sometimes shopping mostly vintage / second hand in the sense that I crave a crisp new looking outfit. I just try and make it that everything I shop new, is something that I know I will wear and be a wardrobe staple. Other experimental stuff I always go second hand. But I agree having a mix is always the best!! 💚

Yes… definitely one imp thing as I get older is I’m done fantasizing myself in pieces. I see my own lifestyle and make sure I only buy pieces that I would truly wear although it may have looked like a dream on someone. Also doing low buy months or a year if you have the will can feel better at times. Deleting fashion apps, unsubscribing to clothing emails, putting a hold on your IG account and following influencers.. are equally important. Over exposure to social media and continually seeing new buys can make a big hole in one’s pocket and making wasteful purchases. Instead of buying 10 white shirts… I prefer to invest in one pretty floral dress that can see me through Spring and Summer! It’s definitely a sound advice coming from a You Tuber! ❤ And let’s remember kindness to Mother Nature. What goes around, comes around. Cycle of life!

Girl i'm portuguese and there's no such thing as a portuguese aesthetic, literally no one wears that here haha if you notice it is always the same 3 to 5 bloggers wearing that style, absolutely not a representation of Portugal! Portuguese aesthetic would be white air forces, skinny jeans and a crop top hahaha
@Grace.RobinsonАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment. It probably is slightly wrong to label as it as a ‘Portugueses girl’ aesthetic upon reflection. Makes sense that it doesn’t represent how people actually dress I Portugal. It really is more of a instagram trend x
@vaniaaaBАй бұрын
@@Grace.Robinson Don't worry about it! I found it funny because a few months ago a couple portuguese influencers used that term and dozens of other ones were mad because the style they were associating with "portuguese girl" was just pattern mixing and embroidery, I guess they were just trying to coin a new term for a trend! And everyone else in the fashion world here got pissed off haha

As a Portuguese person who lives in Lisbon but dresses quite alternative and only gets their clothing from thrift stores, you’re absolutely right 😭 99% are total npcs ( I can insult my own people) and are not aesthetic-worthy… the Betos are a f*cking plague

The pieces I see on Instagram or Pinterest, I cannot recreate or don't look good in because of different body shape and size. 😢😅 these days I just go for basics and a few small items with a pop of color or design for the special days.

You have to remember insta photos are perfectly posed. Even the person wearing the outfit wouldn’t look exactly like that in real life. But sounds like you have found what works for you. I’ll be releasing a video on a wardrobe and outfit formula in the coming week which could also be useful xxx
