Thanks for posting this video. Those riot disturbance training events served as the foundation for more advanced tactics which eventually paid off during Operation Safe Haven when we did it for real when the Cuban refugees rioted and took over the camps in Empire Training Area, and then the 549th and other units fought to retake the camps as part of a task force commanded by COL Cofer (the MP BDE Commander). Not everyone took the training seriously, and they paid for it during those ops. In the opening days, the 534th MP CO took quite a few casualties (wounded), and soon after so did 5/87 IN BN.

Cool video, thanks for posting it. What platoon were you in? I remember planning these LFXs back when I was 3rd PL, 1993-1995. MSG Miller was our PSG. That was back in the days of CPT Baratto (and later CPT Hunt) and 1SG Lintz. Back in those years, few of us foresaw the years of combat that awaited us. Across the underfunded Army, these LFXs were a key part in building our fighting skills, which we put to use just a few years later after 9/11. I remember these LFXs vividly, as well as the men... Finley, Mandeville, Armstrong, Black, Wells, Beggs, Mason, Robinson, Moorehouse, Streat, Lavoie, Dragu, Mars, Bowman, Kinney, Armstrong, Cummings, Burry, and others.

I hope your entire crew made it ok. It seemed a Bradley was getting skull drug back into the FOB once a week. That sounds bad and it is, but the uparmore's were just brought back as chunks.

I remember going out on a night fire some where in the jungle around 1981. I had a M-60 and maybe 200 rounds. It was pitch black.

My parents and Sisters were also involved in the Girl Scouts. I was about 11 years old at the time. My Sister's troop spent a few nights in what used to be a woman's prison. I went, too. The girls went on a hike and my Dad asked if I wanted to go. I told him no because I didn't feel like it. The real reason I didn't go was because they had Hersey Candy Bars there and I wanted to eat some. I soon regretted not going with them. I could swear that prison was haunted. I heard noises from in there and I was sure glad when they got back.

My Dad was an MP at Ft Davis in the early 70's. One of his friends took his two sons with him to the beach that is shown at about the 21 second mark. The two boys were swimming while their Dad and another soldier were on the shore talking. The boys got caught in an undertow and couldn't get back to shore so their Dad and the other soldier went into the water after them. Their dad was a faster swimmer and got one of the boys and handed him off to the other soldier and went after his other son and they were on their way back in and he handed the other son off to the other soldier but was too exhausted to make it back so he drowned. It was really sad. We were in the Boy Scouts while we were stationed at Ft Davis and we camped at Ft San Lorenzo for a few days. It was a lot of fun. We also got to go to the San Blas islands. I would love to go back to visit sometime.

Building 217 sat right across from the barracks at Ft. Espinar. I called Building 217 my home from August 1989-November 1989. I never saw the damage done with the Vulcan cannons. I'd heard about it and participated in a practice run, but seeing the aftermath. Strange.

I spent many hours doing the Panama riot control both on the line as an aggressor during my time there. It was known to get a little bit brutal from time to time. Getting pelted with rotten food always kinda sucked too.

I tried to put them in my lights with out the mod and its about 2 ticks to long and to wide. I assume the dimensions on the M951's and M952's are just about the same. I have seen a few videos on here where folks shave the sides down and cut down the spring. I just chose the Mod.
