At the time this was written audiences valued the singers and their skills as the the principal reason to attend operas. It was almost impossible to be too "over the top" the more spectacular and pyrotechnic the better! I think Bartoli's style is entirely appropriate for this aria, it was also originally written for a castrato in the role .

Long comment ahead. First of all love your reactions and I hope that you do more of his songs! Dears can get really railed up about this show, but they are angry at the show and not at you. For context: Dimash was invited there by the producers and before signing the contract he asked if there will be children competing. They said no. The contestants on the show were kept separated from each other, so they didn't see or know who else is competing until much later when the show did battle type of rounds where they competed against each other. This is when he found out that there are children competing against him on the show and that the producers lied to him about it. That day he met in the corridor a young Kazakh singer named Daneliya. Someone who he was sponsoring and supporting by helping her starting her own career. I can't even imagine how angry he was to find out they not only lied to him about the children, but set him up to compete against a child who he was personally trying to help. The show did a lot more than just lie to him about the children. They cut out a lot of his songs, changed the order things happen to manipulate it and make him look worse. For example they made it look like he quit after performing, when in reality he announced that he is quitting before singing the song he prepared anyway. They cut out from the show the parts of him performing the Queen Of The Night aria as well as a Kazakh traditional song. Dimash wrote on twitter that we will be able to hear him sing in Kazakh on American TV, and when it didn't happen, he just deleted his tweet. It seemed like they decided to cut it after promising him that it will air. This was the only time he sang both that one specific Kazakh song as well as a longer part from Queen Of The Night and we never got to see it. They treated badly other contestants, not just Dimash. There was some popular youtube family band with many fans that been on the show got qualified and they didn't even show them, disappointing all of their fans. No other contestants got more than 5 minutes of screen time aside from Dimash and the children acts. (Interesting how it was only Dimash and the 3 children acts who got all the screen time. Almost like it was done on purpose...) There is a lot more that allegedly happened. They treated other contestants badly as well. I won't go into too much detail, but allegedly this show was all set up from the start as a way to make Dimash win and manipulate him into signing a contract in the US. This explains why they decided to petty revenge and cut out his performances and edit the footage to try and show him in a bad light when he decided to quit.

Thank you for reacting to Dimash and to his videos. Unfortunately, you unknowingly didn't make a good choice with this video. As a rule, most Dears boycott these performances by The Worlds Best. Him leaving for the reasons stated very much happened, but I don’t think it was this round, but rather when he sang “Adagio” if I remember correctly. What happened this round was just as infuriating though, because the reason he’s wearing traditional clothing is because he actually sang “Daididau” right before this, which is a Kazakh folk song. It was meant to be a nice moment of cultural exchange and appreciation(him sharing a bit of his culture, and then performing something familiar to the American audience to show his respect)… And then they cut the Kazakh song out of the show completely. Classy. I’d recommend checking out the version from his Arnau Concert in NY(2019) too, he’s having a lot of fun there. And I also suggest watching Adai + Daididau from his Bastau Concert(2017), he’s sang this song a bunch of times(most recently in Paris for the French president, which was just a few weeks ago), but I think this performance is a bit special since it was his first solo concert.
