The hike usually takes about 3-4 hours round trip, depending on your pace and how long you spend enjoying the views along the way. 😊

You can definitely spend more time at the top to enjoy the views or even explore other trails nearby. That way, it’s worth the drive and not just a 4-hour hike! 😊

Is it 19km round trip or one way to the top? If one way, does everyone usually hike back their car or take shuttle back?
@TheOutroverts11 күн бұрын
The whole hike is 19km. It starts at Mangatepopo Road end, goes up, and finishes at Ketetahi Car Park (not a loop). There are 4-hour parking limits at both the Mangatepopo and Ketetahi road ends for short walks. If you want to do the whole Tongariro Alpine Crossing like in the video, it's best to book a return shuttle from National Park Village or Whakapapa Village. ☺️

Hi, do you think 10 days is enough for me to travel and explore from Auckland to Christchurch by campervan? I am planning to arrive in Auckland and depart from Christchurch, or possibly the other way around, I haven’t decided yet.
@TheOutroverts25 күн бұрын
Hi, Personally, I’d focus on exploring just one island, unless you're set on seeing both. Driving from Auckland to Christchurch alone takes around 2 days and involves an inter-island ferry crossing. 😊

Great video and well done. I’ve climbed Pinnacles 3 times here’s my tips - 1. Start pre dawn with headlamps if you’re going in the weekend. The hut sleeps many people so if you leave later you will encounter lots of hikers- start early, finish early. 2. It’s 900 vertical metres hike so be prepared for 6+ hours on your feet. 3. Comfortable shoes must have lugs for grip, pre tape any heels or areas that may blister. Trekking poles are essential imo 3 points of contact during ascent and particularly descent. 4. When you get to the ladders at the last part stash your backpacks and poles in the bushes. Don’t carry all your gear to the summit. Hikers that have managed to get this far aren’t thieves. 5. Take Panadol before during and after the hike, will make more enjoyable and you’ll move quicker. 6. Wear light layers (wool or poly) no cotton! Windproof/showerproof jacket for the exposed upper trail. Don’t bring down puffer jackets or over pack, every extra gram you carry will cost on energy expenditure.
@TheOutroverts3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comments. The tips, especially the one about Panadol, are excellent! 😄😊

How easy was it to drive this camper van? Since it is about 7 meters
@TheOutroverts4 ай бұрын
You'd be surprised at how easy it is to drive, particularly with the elevated driver's seat providing a clear view of the van and the road. While it is long, its width is similar to that of a large car making it easy to get used to. 😊

@@doriskong5285 I think it's called summer crossing package from the Park hotel. Ask for it when you book your accommodation. Shuttle pick up is from the hotel itself. Depending on when you finish the hike, you can take the 3pm, 4:30pm or 6pm return shuttle from Tongariro back to the hotel 😊
