The after effects of General Anastesia will be worse than the ankle replacement surgery. Especially according to your age. Good luck

This is quite informative. In a week & a half, I'm having subtalar fusion & 2 tendons being repaired. My arthritis began as a result of repetitive diging in my garden by hopping on a shovel with my left foot. I am gearing up with my home being altered for moving the knee scooter about. Plus things & projects to do while I am recoviering for the next 3 months. Plus, a ramp is being built so I can maneuver about with the scooter or wheelchair. I have been practicing using it. Plus I have a team of friends rallying around me to take to appointments & just keeping me busy. I want to be prepared as best I can. Plus I have lost 10# so far. Hope to loose more by then. Praying it all goes well. I am nervous!

Is it possible to have ankle fusion reversed and an ankle replacement done? Both my ankles have been fused and it has limited my life. I would say to anybody considering ankle fusion DON'T DO IT...it's ruined my life

Thanks so much for this detailed explanation. I injured my ankle 40 years ago, but they kept telling me nothing could be done. I was so grateful when my doctor told me they could do ankle replacement. Hope to have this done in a few weeks. So very excited about possibility of walking without constant excruciating pain. Also, thanks for mentioning mental health component. Rotten to not be able to walk in fresh air and sunshine! Wish me luck!

Had a total ankle in November 2016 due to RA, wore a boot with pain for one year, followed by two pain free years. The last four years were on and off terrible. Eventually, the talus section slid away from the tibia portion, had the ankle removed and had an ankle fusion with a cage and post in the tibia. Wish I never had the ankle replacement.

Great info thanks. Each case is different so it's hard to determine which treatment is better for everyone as a collective. Biocartilage advancement is a way of the future

I'm 62 and ankle arthritis set in about 5 or 6 years ago and has gotten to the point where I'm strongly impacted in my daily life pretty. That includes swelling and tenderness and weakness. I'm 20 or 30 pounds overweight, but pretty active overall. In the last year my right ankle has joined the left in exhibiting symptoms should I have have surgery done simultaneously? I've been advised to go with fusion as opposed to replacement. Comments?
@richardhedden70907 ай бұрын
Go with replacement. I had may left ankle replaced in Jan. The right will be a few more years. If you can drop a bit of weight.

Watching this video too makes me think maybe my recent medial malleolus fracture didn’t heal correctly. Some times I can bear weight. Other times it hurts so much I can’t walk. Serious pain.
@adventureswithmyNavySEAL Жыл бұрын
Hi thank you for the video. I was diagnosed 2 days ago w AVN of the third metatarsal and 3 neuromas as well between 3,4 n 5 I believe all this happened in the time I was in an airboot for a fractured medial malleolus non displaced. Toes tingled the entire time. Mri shows these findings. Is it possible these traumas came from the air boot? I have broken my hip before and had three cannulated screws input. Never had any issues. Hip is doing good at least it was before I started walking wonky so that’s getting sore for the first time in 11 years. I’ve never been a drinker nor a steroid user. I need to know why this happened. I am searching for a reputable surgeon. I have three lined up to interview but the waiting to get in is terrify me. I live on a sailboat and we plan to take off on our sailing retirement adventure next month. But if I can’t balance because of a numb foot we will have to sell our new home. Please help me. I’m reaching out to everyone to find out why this happened in 5 weeks. The bumps on ball n side of foot were there in a matter of 4 weeks after fracture. Normally I’m a very quick healer. My Otho dr w my hip said my bones were hard as rock. He said I had to fall really hard. I did. Got bucked off a horse. I’ve broken nose, collarbone, ankles and wrists and never so much as even PT afterward. I just healed. This is causing me great worry as I can NOT walk yet they think I should be able to w the air boot. Thanks Doc! Please help!!
