Very nice to see your grounded grappling techniques with the knife. It is rare to see, both in grappling and FMA schools, to see this aspect of weapon defense being studied, and I hope to learn more about it myself.

Lots of good stuff! These drills have gotten me away from folders and into fixed blades with good access sheaths. It’s tough to minimize damage with both hands let alone open a folder while trying to stay alive. Impact weapon up close against the knife? Bayonet to the face is awesome however at close range if you don’t knock them out/down you are stabbed. I like the work he did with the stick making a barrier. I’m too old and fat to run and backing away quickly enough seems impossible. I “die” less often when I’m aggressively getting after the weapon and taking targets of opportunity when he tries to hide the knife. Thank you for sharing your work, it’s tough to find people who want to do these drills.

Excellent work gentleman, thanks for putting this up. We’ve been working through some of this and it is tough. Pressure testing and stone cold honesty is the way.

I am not a FMA student, my martial heart belongs to karate do, but Kali/Arnis is helping me not only to improve as a karate student, also as a person. I think both martial arts are (somehow) related. I need to ask masters in the FMA is there a small contribution of the spanish fencing system? (destreza y destreza auténtica) If some day I move to your beatiful country I want to meet every FMA master I can find. I can only say God bless all you and greetings from Venezuela

Glad to know this. There is some influence in Spanish swordplay. But it may vary depending on the style of kali, eskrima and arnis.

I like your honest approach and comments, no excuses. For example you are pointing out places where you got stabbed, that a viewer would not see. You're not pretending to be an untouchable warrior.

Thank you very much 🙏

Gentleman congratulations on your work. You have shown what its like to defend against a knife where you do not know what the attacker will do, very important. Keep going with this honest work you'll probably get some negative comments from senior kali/escrima you tubers because it will expose their unrealistic prearranged drills, well done.

@schoolofswordanddagger12972 жыл бұрын
Exactly what we're going to release soon as we discuss on our review of what actually happened here. All the stabs that happened and more. This is what we highlight as martial artist who let ourselves be there to test and test and retest and just keep testing our skills on unchoreograph attacks aganist a knife weilding assailant.

The reality in knife fighting/Filipino Martial Arts is not to become an "untouchable master" but to equipped the individual the basic knowledge and skill to survive a knife attack. Its like saying that boxers dont get hit in a boxing match

Well done for showing what reality is like so many practitioners do not film this as it exposes their weaknesses. Could you try multiple attackers next time?
@johnnymism2 жыл бұрын
Again congratulations on this. So much stuff out there is choreography that doesn't work in reality. What you showed is how martial arts should train not using pre arranged drills. When you train like this it's sometimes messy and often fails(that's reality) as humans we are pre wired to provide emergency solutions to incoming danger( moving out of the way or catching something) that's unexpected.
