Do you have any old photos of the Urangan Pier, Hervey Bay, with possibly a cargo vessel at the end.

Old. AU STRALIA had a red ensign not a blue one. We fought 4 wars under the red ensign. Menzel in 1953 decided to make it blue without consulting the Australian people or cabinet.

My dad built ma y many houses in the 60s he and his officer only had an electric drill till about 1965 when he got his first circular saw, a monster 12 inch blade and NO saw guard. Things were built a lot slower then and the workers so much better and less up themselves

@ 9.34 tenterfieild didnt get electricity till 1917 so that well developed pole system probably dates from at least the thirties. @12.50 the picture of hobart seems to be taken from the corner of Liverpool street and murray street looking to the hobart waterfront, St David's Cathedral spire is in the far distance to the left partially obscured. Thanks again for your wonderful pictures, luckily hobart has many of these buildings remaining and each city street has quite different topography which makes working out where they were taken easier. Have a happy ond prosperous new year.

Thank you. It was great to spend some time in Hobart and explore some of the streets down to the waterfront. It is great that Hobart still has so many of these buildings remaining. Happy New Year.

Fantastic collection of pics, across times and places. I recognise Brisbane Street, Launceston, which has lost a lot of its iron lace and verandahs. Also, intriguing to see Coogee with bare hills and sprinklings of trees.

Thank you. It's great to walk around the streets in Launceston and have a look at the older style buildings with iron lace and those verandahs.

Was he 'borrowed' from the Zoo in a flood, I wonder?
@possumintheblossom7 күн бұрын
@andycam4645 That makes sense. A quick google search showed a few mentions of the elephant. Also showed that a couple of elephants went on a rampage in 1947!

Excellent compilation..The Wollongong farmhouse captured at 11:45 is located in West Wollongong and named Keera Vale. Basically in the foothills of Mount Keira and Escarment. Originally constructed in 1840's, recently renovated by owners and is one of the area's oldest.
@Adventurebeatz7 күн бұрын
Thank you. I was not sure if the farmhouse was still there in Wollongong. It is great that it still is. 🙂

I have been to more than a few of the eastern state towns & villages depicted in these pictures. The Moss vale station still looked much the same the last time I saw it. The progress made in less than 100 years from when many of these places were established is amazing. Remembering that many hamlets, villages & towns were not begun until after the 1830's, to see such fine stone & brick buildings simply meant that many a worker must have worked long hours & many days to achieve what they did. We must remember that when Australia went to war in 1914, the national population was not a lot more than four million.

@14.29 I remember crossing the gundagai road bridge when making the trip back to Holbrook in 1961, we kids used to be put on a mattress in the back of the FC Holden blue on blue station wagon and because the planks on the road bridge were laid across the bridge, we would all be woken up with a start as the tyres made the noisiest clack clack clack noise and as the bridge deck was sagging in between the piers the car would violently bounce up and down, I think my father would drive just a bit faster to ad to the bounce as us kids loved it. In the photo you can see the cross ways planking.

Thanks so much for sharing. It would have been a real experience going over the planks on those old road bridges. Such great memories 😊
