Nice video, I just got back from a beta demo day and really liked the 390rs. It has plenty of power on the woods track we rode with tons a smooth torque but if you don't mind, how does it cruise on the road at around 55-65mph? Did it still feel like it has good power there or does it feel lacking. Thanks.

Have a 390rr 2019. 13/50 for enduro, 15/50 for more long tarmac liaisons... Wirh 13/50 i m around 75 km/h , i don't care asI only take small roads, even for long travels. With 15/50 it is ok to get around 80 /85 kmh all day but off road you will need more often the 1st gear, and start bike on steep climbs after a stop will need some clutch .... Planning next long trip off road in different countries, flat Kazakhstan , mountainous Georgia, turkey parts, etc... I'm used to swap in between 2 different front sprockets, I will maybe test 12/45 and 15/45 ( 3.75 and 3.0 ratio) , so shorter gear and longer gear than my usual 13/50 //15/50 (3.85 and 3.22 ratio) Changing from 13 to 15 with 50 uses same chain length, so it is a fast process. Have to check if it is same with shorter chain of 45 back. For possible overheat , I wired a 3 ways switch, pos 1 forced ON, pos 2 auto, pos 3 off ( not to solicit the battery when restarting). I run a Race map but I kept the OEM exhaust , so it is super rich, but runs cooler and is just a monster ;) . +200 rpms map, night and day for technical, it prevents any flame /stall, and starts great in super hot or super cool wheater. Really mandatory IMHO And of course a cheap reg rec shindingen imitation from ebay which gives me constant 14.50 volts, whatever is in use ( fan + 55w beam, etc;..)

There’s less than half an inch difference in seat height in these bikes. Sounds like you need to set your sag. Sag can set a little over to get a lower seat height . I typically run about 25mm more because I’m on the short side.

Thanks for posting these videos of the 390. I keep thinking about getting one. They have a new 2024 sitting at my local dealer I might pick up next week. I really just want a street legal 4 stroke trail bike. I have a Xtrainer and 300 RR now, but I’m not a super fan of the 2 stroke for the type of riding I find myself doing. I saw your other video. Are you getting 100 miles to a tank pretty comfortably, even on the trails?

Ive had a 400 KTM,RFS............and yeah, why not get the 500 or 525 ? The 400 just did not make the power it needed to make, but weighed the same as a 500. My 400 was working so hard, it got hot quick in the woods and would blow it's water out.

It has no problem holding 60 but revs a little high with the 13 tooth. Definitely vibrates, but balancing the wheels should get rid of most of that.

I looking at the 430 RR-s and the Ktm 500 exc-f, I feel the KTM is kinda clogged up, tires need to be changed. Beta seems to be unclogged, good tires, GPS, etc. More bang for the buck. One year warranty is a plus. Im 50/50 still. Maybe im thinking too much.

@babar69110
@babar69110 6 ай бұрын
excf is and will feel lighter but the Beta will be far easier and more efficient for a non pro rider. Beta has some weight on front, which makes it planted on ground ( and so not so easy to wheelie up ) and not the best turning radius, but pulling out stop screws makes it better . If not making super fast rally raids or open spaces, better lower triple clamps around 3 to 4mm, for better handling and less" chopper " sag..

I only got to try a xtrainer once at beta days, and I felt this machine did technical terrain better for me. However, I also have a beta 300 race edition and nothing tackles technical terrain as well as that. I just didn’t enjoy the xtrainer at all.

It’s purpose is straight up off road, capable of anything. Race stiffer for big hits and standard more forgiving for tech and absorbing smaller bumps, but still not soft. To me it’s the closest 4 stroke to a 300 2 stroke. It fills a void in the market and I love mine

I love riding this bike but not on long distances across roads. The factory seat is definitely not comfortable, but that can be changed and the gearing I have is too low for long periods of high speed travel. I'm sure you can set the bike up for it, but I would probably opt for a bigger cc bike if I were to do a bdr.

@@rawmotors you can put the race map, keeping OEM exhaust. You will be on more rich side, sucking a bit more fuel, but it works super great :) This with +200 rpms idling will make your bike running far cooler ( yes higher rpms seems a bit contradictory, but maybe pump flow works a bit more ). i can go on idling on 1 and 2 smothly without any stalling and never had a flame out too :) You seem to be a 2 strokes guy , you are blippppppping a lot ;) have nice rides, thanks for video !

I have been able to put a lot more time on it in the last couple of months and absolutely love it. I spent some time setting the sag and getting the suspension settings dialed in for my riding and the bike handles awesome. the best part is that this is my first "dual-sport" so taking it on the trails and then jumping on the road with a straight up dirt bike is pretty awesome. It will never replace my 2 strokes but it is close.

KTM kept puling harder on the top than the 390. But, the 390 has way more low end grunt in the bottom and mid range which is what I preferred for tight, technical areas. Plus, the power feels more linear compared to the 350.

The build quality and factory set-up and quality control on the Beta (judging by your bike) has definitely talked me out of a Beta. The Japanese bikes never have that many problems and for a lot less money. Thanks for the review.
@rawmotors
@rawmotors Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that, Beta makes incredible bikes. However, in my opinion, Japanese bikes and European bikes have two totally different specialties. If you were interested in enduro and single track/woods and don't like Beta, maybe look into Sherco, KTM/husky/gasgas. Another thing to think about is that Beta probably stands behind their products way more than any other manufacturer.
@davidawaters

I don’t understand this at all. We’ve had lots of Japanese bikes and we now have 4 Betas (bought our first in 2016). Gauge/Speedometer has been the only issue and they just quit working-the bike ran fine without it. The 2016 XTrainer got its first piston replacement this year after around 300 hours 😮. We also have 2017, 2021 XTrainers and a 2023 200RR. Great bikes. Suspension is a little lacking on XTrainers though.
@spydie
@spydie Жыл бұрын
@@davidawaters did a gauge or speedometer ever quit working on a Japanese bike? In the 65 I've had I'd say no. 300 hours for a piston replacement? Ouch. At a 30 mph average for an off-road bike that's about 9000 miles. As you long as you can stand the maintenance then you are happy with them.
@davidawaters
@davidawaters Жыл бұрын
@@spydie wow 65 bikes is crazy. Not sure how many we’ve had but the first 15 or so were Japanese and it’s been KTM or Beta ever since. 300 hrs is actually a lot for a 2 stroke piston-most people (Japanese or Euro) change pistons on 2T’s at 100hrs or less.
