We had 3 chipmunks when we moved in our house in a forest/mountain neighborhood in Colorado. We were helping them with their food by keeping up the acorn trees someone had planted when they built the house. We admired them from the house. We have 5 acres of land so they could roam free. However though, neighbors were very mean and even though we asked and begged them NOT to hit the chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits in our area, they still got hit. We had named them Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. They knew their names too. Needless to say, we do not like our neighbors anymore because they would never listen to us. We knew very well what we were doing with our wildlife because we did massive research on them all. We wanted them to survive and thrive on our land because we had the ability and the knowledge we needed to help them survive and be happy. Never had one ever try to get into our house, nor our garage. We only have one squirrel and one rabbit now who have survived and they stay here on our property in their little homes underground. We call them, they come out and we have stocked them up on food and potty training pads so they survive the winter months. They do forage in the summer and we make sure they can always look for their food and water from the rains and melting snow, as well as, bark from trees that hold water for them to get. Winter is upon us again and I don’t know why the squirrel hibernates during the winter months that’s on our property, but she does. We have poked holes in the snow for her to climb out of her little house underground, but she doesn’t ever come out during winter months. The rabbit does come out, but not for long at all. It’s their normal routine I have to say. I’ve been here for 12 years and they always act like that during the winter. We do make sure they can come out by keeping their holes cleared of snow. Wildlife is very interesting and they are all highly unique animals. We have black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, lynx, coyotes, foxes, and other wildlife species that we have also encountered on our property. We just let them go their own ways. LOL I am not that brave to try to make friends with the black bears, coyotes, nor the wildcats unless the bobcat and lynx are friendly enough, but that is far and few between. Same with foxes. Mountain lions….nope….not going there‼️‼️😁😁

Snake jaws are not fused on the bottom The left and right sides float separately from one another Likewise they are not attached to the top part of their mouth like ours or lizards are. Which gives them flexibility to open their mouths wide and swallow large prey. They do not technically “unhinged” their jaws… because they were never hinged to begin with. Their skin around their mouths and necks are also very stretchy to accommodate expanding and swallowing prey.

Round pupils means crepuscular or diurnal Slits mean nocturnal. Think of it like our eyes dilate larger and smaller based on the amount of light we are looking through… Likewise snakes have different pupils to best help them in the times of day they are most active… Nothing to do with venomous or not.
