Flat and silent the ocean lies Pequod's captured in a lull No gentle breeze blows in the sails Heated by a salty carpet from above The crew's emaciated, survival tough Giant billows bear a mighty whiteness Screams from the lookout: Whale ahead! I want this whale, I want it dead! Hysteria on upper deck Rabid flames in Ahab's eyes Hustle and bustle, drag and pull Panic affects the whaler's moves Fire! The harpoon slashes the water's surface Diving into darkness - the prey escapes Swallowed by the sea Starboard lies calm Portside full of wrath Possessed by unhuman anger The heart brawly pumps the blood Through the marionette of rage Ahab's visage runs red I want this whale, I want it dead A fin erupts from the abyss Proudly undulates the flesh Reaches bright horizons Inviolable, manorial An arrow loosens ... and spirit's away.""

To think this legendary beast also reached an insane size of 90 feet long is just terrifying.. you would’ve needed way more then just men in boats with harpoons and spears to kill the terror of the deep.

Gracias ☺. Saludos :)

I was commercial fisherman for over 10 years a captain for over 7 ive known the sea man&boy alike this brings a tear to my eye many memories and feelings I'd thought id never feel again rushing back
Especially with Patrick Stewart in the lead role. And how you can connect his performance here to how he performed in the Ahab scene with First Contact.

Ahab are my joint favourite Funeral Doom band (alongside Shape of Despair), but The Call of the Wretched Sea is the album that sits at the top of the pile. It is a truly crushing album, the epitome of Funeral Doom for me. The Hunt is a highlight in an album full of highlights.

I wonder what happens if they used cannons and Guns against Moby Dick, because I just thought the crew using different kinds of Guns against Moby Dick.
@jackcoleman1784 Жыл бұрын
The whale would most likely dive and get away if you could even hit it in the first place which is a big if. Most cannons of this age couldn't fire at an angle low enough to hit it yet alone easily hit a target moving as fast as a whale and the shots would disintegrate as soon as they hit the water so you can't hit the whale under the water with shot. Harpoons were used because you could rope them to one or several boats to keep the whale from diving. After the whale would eventually become exhausted it would be further harpooned/stabbed to death and the ship would come and rig it up to be harvested.

Back in 2001 the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association observed the 150th anniversary of the publication of "Moby Dick." Among the many activities were readings of various chapters which included Patrick Stewart reading several chapters with Ahab's dialogue. It was memorable, to say the least!

This song fits perfect the tittle, it just sounds as if you were sailing trough enormous and heavy waves, rain falls hard as hell, the ship is trembling, and a monstruous whale is swimming around, ready to attack. The boat feels so small lost in the middle of the wild ocean, waiting for the worse. This song literally makes you feel there!! Its so magic and deep.
