Grew up with April Wine. I remember wh they recorded their first album in the auditorium of Queen Elizabeth High S3 in Halifax Nova Scotia Sorry but no one can replace the original band members the three lead guitars Myles voice and the harmony of the other two lead guitar players. R I. P . Myles ❤ 🎉

When Guns n Roses cut their first album, I was living in Southern California. Axil Rose was being interviewed on KMET in early 1984, and the DJ was taking calls from listeners. A guy called in and asked Axil Rose if he had ever heard of Ron Tabak. Ol' Axil didn't like that call and immediately said, "Next caller!" Axil was a direct rip off wannabe of Ron Tabak. Just listen to some of the early G&R recordings.

Eek...at least Headpins have a couple of original members left. This is just a sanctioned cover band. I can't believe that Ra or Smitty need the loot that badly, but whatever...

Hi and thank you for your video. My wife and I seen the new Trooper band in October at Casino NB along with Honeymoon Suite. They opened for Trooper and many in the audience did not realize that the lead guitar player and singer who founded the band, Ray and Smitty, were gone, including myself, and as the concert, progressed, the fans got a lot quieter. Most of their applause was towards the end, when half the people in the venue were drunk. Honeymoon Suite is one of the few rock bands in the world who have been playing for over 40 years and it’s still the 5 original teenagers that started the group. Not one member has been replaced. That in and itself is a huge feat to accomplish, and when the concert was over, Honeymoon Suite put on a better show that the new so-called Trooper, as they had a standing ovation after each song. But getting back to Trooper, it’s just not the same without Ray and Smitty. This clown, the new singer butchered a lot of their songs. When he sang Janine he had no passion like Ray did as that song meant a lot to Ray for personal reasons. Then he did a BTO song. A Doobie Brothers song and one by Thin Lizzy. I’ve probably seen Trooper a dozen times and not once have they ever covered someone else’s song. I’ve seen hundreds of bands in my lifetime but the difference with Trooper was that no matter what song they sang, everyone in the audience knew and sang the song with them. That goes to show how popular they were with the Canadian audience as they loved to play small venues and they all said they remembered the beginning where it was the small audience that made them who they are today. One of the best bands that ever came out of Canada. In all fairness tho, the new lead guitar player is excellent. He is a master magician. Where are they found this new lead singer, that bewilders me. He did not take the songs seriously. He made a joke out of many of them. Even when he first came on stage, he was jumping in the air, snapping his feet together and trying to act like a clown. I have a funny feeling that they will not be touring much longer. There is not one original band member left. But at the end of the night, music is always good as it warms the heart and soul. So once again, thank you for your video. There is no doubt that many people will see things differently than I do. I’m not trashing your video, i’m just calling it as I see it. Happy new year and have a great 2024.

Just one fans opinion, but I think he just sounds like your run of the mill pub/bar room singer. I wouldn’t go see them without Myles. Even when Jerry Mercer left that was a huge loss. Clench, Moffet, Lang all those guys are missed for the April Wine chemistry.

They sound better than a tribute band. Brian Greenway is still with them. And up until recently Myles was still out front. After listening to rock for 60 years and first hearing these guys back in the 70s….they still sound like April Wine to me. RIP Miles!

The band sounds good but it should be called something other than April Wine, in context of a tribute band. Much respect to the musicians. Please don’t remind me that Myles Goodwin chose the musicians and gave them his blessing to continue as I am aware of that, regardless, it’s nothing but a great tribute band. Foreigner has been the same story for years. I guess people like to re-live their youth by going to see these type of shows. To each his own I guess. I’ll just put on the albums that moved me when I was young.

It's now been 9 years since this video was posted and Prism is still touring. I'm going to be checking them out tonight onstage with Harlequin at Club Regent in Winnipeg. I know it's not the original members, or the original singer and frankly i don't care. Not too many bands sound like their studio albums that were released 40+years earlier. I'm glad to see they are still going at it, the same goes with Harlequin

I don't get how some people are so judgemental. What do you expect all these guya from the 80s were already than moat of us when they made it. Not all members can still hang at their age. The bottom line is they are keeping rock alive. Now younger kids are hearing our great music from the 80s and that is good for me. I love this April Wine and all the members that have parted.

I saw Colin James the next night at the Edmonton Blues Fest. The festival was incredible to begin with but Colin James closing the festival was the icing on the cake. Not having the saxophone just made the song that much more interesting. Different versions of the same song can be a good thing in this case.
