hi!!! we were both already abroad in europe, so our flights/transportation to italy was relatively affordable! however (outside of airfare) there's always accessible/affordable ways to travel to europe from the US. we paid $150 for our 3 nights in sorrento -- it's just about where you're willing to stay/how comfortable you want to be :) we did the same thing for greece last summer and basically 85% of our trip cost was airfare (we paid $289 each total for 10 days of accomodation), so if you can figure out how to scrape together enough money to cover your flights it's totally doable!!!
