I am studying for the CompTIA Security+ while on a 30-day break from work. I also went to a boot camp, but it was a scam. I can tell you a lot about all the lawsuits they have against them and how I became an expert on boot camps and scams. I am currently talking to a government recruiter who said I can apply once I get my certification. Wish me luck.

I have not studied in a month, i scraped the bottom of my car on the shitty road, and I had to park reallly far away because I could not find the entrance to the parking lot. Did i mention I was constipated and tired? So yea... I am really proud of myself for getting a almost passing score. I am gonna retake it tho. thank you.

@@AlexisHope this is what everyone is saying but it is not helpful for other viewers using these videos to try to find housing in the city and not get information about the apartments. For the ones that you didn't choose to live in, can you disclose the apartment complex info? I'm on the hunt for new housing in the fall. That is what brought me to youtube.

do you have personal projects on your resume? anything an employer can base your skills on? How much time did you work as IT helpdesk? Credible references? your A+ cert? Just having a single certification with limited showable experience will make SOC analyst searching almost pointless. If the goal is to jump straight into security without an IT foundation, (which I don't recommend) you're better off going for your CCNA or CCNP which will again, be very tough without a very strong foundation.

Thanks for that. I actually don't know how to exactly add my projects to my resume, I'm unsure of how that is supposed to look and what would be considered a project. I'm thinking of going for other certs but I have 3 years of help desk experience. What do you think is a good start for Soc Analysis roles?

@@AlexisHopethere are plenty of resources and videos you can find to get an idea of what home labs you can do to show off your experience. In terms of putting it on your resume, simply add a projects tab, and fill in what you did. Since your focus is on security, I highly recommend HackTheBox or TryHackMe as they have dedicated tabs for beginner projects. Some things they have I can list off the top of my head: SOC 1 Certification Configuring Windows Firewall Experience with WireShark Port Configuration The hard truth is you need a very STRONG networking foundation in security. Without it you’ll be doing yourself a disservice; it’s the practical everyday skills that will get you hired, employers need to see that.

Say you land an interview, could you get through a complex series of question specific to network security? If no, then you gotta apply what you’ve been studying, the jobs wanna see ur initiative
