What are your hw specs? I'm assuming different hw will have different levels of success. I'm running it on an AMD 5700G CPU with a 7900XT GPU. I've got the two "disable" patches (can't remember what they were called exactly) near the top of the patch list enabled along with the one for 720p. I haven't tried the 30fps or 60fps patches yet. I didn't have much luck with it until Shadps4 v0.5.0. That was the game changer for me.
@rebelxtreme38715 күн бұрын
@eldermillennialvideogames my PC specs are Ryzen 5 3600x rtx 2060 super and 16 gb ram. and can you please tell which patches you were using and I'm also using the 5.0 version.
@eldermillennialvideogames5 күн бұрын
My last comment should have said that I *am* using the 30fps patch. The 60fps patch is probably fine, I just didn't want to do anything that might make it less stable. And it's just the patches that you can download directly in the emulator after right clicking on the game and selecting the "Cheats" menu item. The ones I have enabled at the moment are: - 30 FPS Fix - Disable Chromatic Aberration - Disable Motion Blur - Disable Vsync - Force Enable Old Hunters DLC - Resolution Patch (720p) I created a .desktop file that would launch the emulator from the F1 menu in Batocera to access it for the initial configuration. Here is that file (I just modified one I had for Yuzu): [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Icon=/userdata/system/switch/extra/icon_yuzu.png Exec=/userdata/shadps4/Shadps4-qt.AppImage Terminal=true Type=Application Categories=Game;batocera.linux; Name=shadps4-config You can change the icon to point to whatever you have on your system and the "Exec" line to point to your AppImage. Oh, almost forgot, don't forget to make ShadPS4 executable: chmod +x /path/to/Shadps4-qt.AppImage So far I've been crash free and with no major problems. I'm almost to the Witches of Hemwick boss fight to give you an indication of how far along I am in the game. Still a long ways to go but the fact that i've gotten that far without any issues is great. I just updated my shadps4 version to the one that just released a little while ago (5559f35) and it's still working fine.

Nice, is it possible to launch in batocera gui, instead from port?
@eldermillennialvideogames7 күн бұрын
Yes, it should be possible. Since I'm using a .sh file to launch the game, it would make sense if you could add another entry in es_systems.cfg that mimics how Ports is configured. Then you could have, for instance, a "PS4" section in EmulationStation. Haven't tried it myself yet, but seems very doable.
@eldermillennialvideogames7 күн бұрын
Just confirmed this does work like I said above. I duplicated the section for "Ports" in /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg. I changed only the "fullname, theme, group, and path sections. You probably don't even need to change all of them. I put the .sh script I created to launch the game into the directory I specified in the "<path>" section and voila. I now have a menu entry called ps4 and can launch my game from there.

Been a while since I played this so my memory is a little fuzzy. i think you have to learn the scrap hammer (or whatever it's called" ability. Then once you have it on your fork you can press something (down on the controller maybe) to move it from the fork to your back.

I decided to upgrade when I was on v38 to v39! It was the biggest disappointment I've ever had and I regretted it immediately. Nothing I had defined and working was as I had it! I had to configure it for the Switch again, themes, options for each emulator, everything was lost and I had to put everything back as it was before. Therefore, it has already been said here by other users, if you are happy with the settings and everything is functional, DO NOT MAKE THE UPDATE. I know what it cost me, and the work I had to do to get everything to my liking and to work. I'm on v39 which isn't even very old and the differences to v40 should be few or almost none. DON'T UPGRADE if you're fine with what you have. Peace and good games

I ran your script in v40 with terminal and it doesn't seem to work anymore. Any ideas?
@eldermillennialvideogames3 ай бұрын
It should still work in v40 as long as you have a copy of it (it got removed from the Internet Archive a while back). Are you seeing errors in the output when you try to run it? It's a pretty simple script, so if you take a look at it you should be able to just run the commands from the script manually. It is mostly just copying files into the correct locations.
@michaelrasbury3 ай бұрын
Both emulators were working in v39 from a previous install, but when I updated to v40, YZ quit working and Riyu only worked for some games (although it had never connected to an controller in any version.) So I had a copy of your installer and ran the script exactly like in your excellent video in v40. It installed perfectly with no errors with everything on my side matching all I see in your video. The YZ app won’t open in the file manger either, either through the link in the applications folder or by executing it from its actual location. So for now, I’ve gone back to my v39 backup where these were working, but of course in v39, psvita doesn’t work correctly and v40 has certain other emulator updates I wanted!
@eldermillennialvideogames3 ай бұрын
Hmmm. Not really sure. I can confirm that I'm running v40 on my PC and both Yuzu and Ryujinx work. If nothing happens when you try to launch Yuzu then I would suspect some error is probably getting put into some of the logs like es_launch_stdout and es_launch_stderr. If you ran my script after the update to v40 and you already had Switch emulation installed, it's also recommended to first remove the existing emulation and then run the script. I'd probably recommend checking the logs and see if they can point you to a fix. Unfortunately, everybody's systems and configs are different, so I can't guarantee something that will work 100% of the time for everyone. For example, in v39 psvita worked just fine for me...after I fixed the issue with the save location not getting moved correctly.

If you installed the game through the Vita3K menu first, all you should have to do is put the title ID in brackets [ ] as part of the filename for the game that you have in your roms folder. If you left out the title ID from the filename it could explain why it isn't loading correctly. See here for more details: wiki.batocera.org/systems:psvita

Thanks a bunch for this! It looks like citra-libretro runs even smoother on my system than Citra Emu. 1:53 Since you mentioned quick touch controls, do you happen to know a method in libretro on how to configure flicking and circle motions on the touch pad to the right analogue stick? Those are quite common in rhythm games like Project Mirai and Theatrhythm and I'd love to play them with a joypad.
@eldermillennialvideogames4 ай бұрын
No problem. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I use a pretty basic control setup myself. In the libretro core options (accessed in-game by pressing your Hotkey + the south face button), I just go to "Controls" and set them there. I have R3 set to be "touch screen input" so pressing in on the right stick mimics touching the screen. Then I have the right analogue directions set to the "C-Stick Y-, Y+, X-, X+" options. Nothing too fancy, but it works for most of the games I want to play.

hello all. im fairly new to Batocera and have found myself going down a rabbit hole trying to get mame games to work. downloaded a bunch of different mame packs on archive and struggled getting some of the more demanding games to work. i noticed most of them started with the Naomi splash screen so I started off looking into that, then Atomiswave and now Namco 2x6. Has anyone looked into Namco 357 yet? saw that package on archive
@eldermillennialvideogames4 ай бұрын
AFAIK Batocera doesn't currently support Namco 357 games, only 2x6 games. I'm not sure if 357 games run on RPCS3 without any modifications or not, haven't really looked into it. I made a video a while back called "How To Get Namco 246/256 Working in Batocera 38". For regular MAME games, if a game doesn't launch you might want to try selecting a different emulator in the EmulationStation options for that particular game. If it's Naomi games, make sure you've put the roms in the right location since I believe those will launch with a Dreamcast emulator and not with MAME. See here for more setup information for Naomi: wiki.batocera.org/systems:naomi. That page will tell you what all the requirements are for getting up and running with Naomi. Or just go here, wiki.batocera.org/systems, and choose the system you're interested in emulating on Batocera. If you're just getting started with Batocera then the wiki is a great resource to help you.

Once both of their githubs were shutdown I kind of lost interest in both of them. I mostly use Ryujinx-Avalonia now with the final version of Yuzu being kind of a back up for any games that don't run as well with Ryujinx. Those two cover my needs pretty well. At the end of the day for me if they don't play a game, I'll just play it on my actual Switch.

I used to grab them just outside of Fort Slacktide. I think there was one near the entrance that's pretty easy to grab, then you just warp back and grab it again. Or grab it once and buy the shell insurance for it (that's probably the quicker method). With the insurance it's just a matter of spawning with the banana and putting it on your fork, then entering one of the snail shells again to have it spawn again on your back.

Hmm thanks for the video. My configuration of v39 looks pretty much similar (ryzen 5800h with radeon vega rx8 and 16gb) and i‘m looking forward to update batocera to v40 and yuzu switch to a newer version (mine looks older than yours) and update it to fw 18.1. and product keys. My issues in batocera 39: - issues with the amd Radeon rx8 vulkan mesa driver (24.0). Many switch games are black screen and also some xbox/xemu games crash on 39, while they were working on 38. - yuzu outdated, often black screen, maybe the same issue as above, maybe yuzu version to old and fw 18 missing. - ppsspp performance as libretro is crazy slow. Was good on 38. Have to use standalone now. - mame and fb neo didn’t accept my custom shaders and also all custom game settings were gone after i updatet mame and fb neo emus. Wtf? Why did they renamed mame2003+ and others? Trying to clone my drive with batocera, stitcher oder win32diskimage. What is best?? Then make backup of userdata before, then update to 40, then flatpack yuzu and riyunx and correct all the little issues on the system (Resolution, ps2 bios, yuzu…) Will it work and will my rpcs3- snes-, dc-, dolphin, ps1-4 and yuzu game settings and maps still be there??
@eldermillennialvideogames4 ай бұрын
You're doing the right thing making a backup first. All of my settings were left in-tact after the v40 upgrade. I had to move my Singe games out of the Daphne roms folder and into the new Singe folder, but that was pretty much it. The first couple of times I launched certain emulators like rpcs3 and pcsx2, the games ran at extremely low framerates, but it just...got better on its own. I didn't do anything, but the games now run just fine. I'm still not 100% sure what that was all about. I still feel like all my games take a few seconds longer to launch on v40, but I'd really need to do a side by side comparison to make sure I'm not just imagining things. I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure I'm running the fw 18 for Switch emulation. I basically only really ever update the fw and keys when I add a brand new game that needs it. I mostly run Ryujinx Avalonia now, but still use the last version of Yuzu for some games where it works better.

@@eldermillennialvideogames Many thanks for the detailed reply. Your feeling about v40 starting some emulators slower is probably right. Good to hear it‘ll speed up after some time (😂haha how on Earth…??). I have to update batocera and yuzu (to fw 18.1), because i really got mesa driver issues in batocera with my vulcan driver / graphic card. Xemu on v39 quits on so many games with black screen and i think it’s also the issue with so many ps3 and switch games. It‘s a known problem for my pc configuration (trigkey speed s5) but worked in batocera 38 flawlessly. I heard it was fixed for batocera 40, so i have to go for it. Also there are now several switch games needing at least 17.0.1 or 18.0.0 or 18.0.1 (i use 17.0.0). But i‘m scared to update 😂. First i‘ll make a backup of all userdata. Then i‘ll clone my 2tb external / portable v39 drive incl. everything. But don’t know the best method. Clone/move via the option in emustation? With Etcher or gparted or Diskimager32? Directly to a new drive or do i have to write an image first (uhh… 2TB). And then update the old drive to v40? Do i have enough system partition space (8GB, 5GB free) for V40? I can‘t expand the partition because i already have the share section partition full (1.9TB). I have no problem with some settings, bios, resolution etc. gone but i’m asking myself if i can flatpack yuzu and riuynx again on V40 in a newer version and then update yuzu to fw18 and keys. Will i loose all my emu- and gamesettings?? I mean all the emulators. Maps, Updates, Mods, Scrapes, custom settings, shader etc.. Yours are all working well??? Would be a nogo 😭
