Howdy, Nomad. Caught you wandering around my part of the world, and thought I'd check you out -- make sure you didn't frighten the women and children. 😉 Thanks for behaving like a gentleman. It looks like summertime. How I miss summertime. You're in an area between mountain ranges called North Park. To the north is Saratoga, Wyoming, to the south is US 40 that climbs the Rabbit Ears mountains either west to Steamboat or south through Winter Park. Both are big Colorado ski towns, and that's where all the tourists would be. In Walden, it's pretty quiet. Arapaho is a native tribe of people who occupied much of the land to your east, on the other side of those mountains. Today, we call those mountains the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, for obvious reasons -- once you get over Cameron Pass and back down the other side, it's wide, flat prairie land all the way to the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Rocky Mountain National Park sits in the northern end of the Front Range and is full of summer tourists. If you get a chance, visit after Labor Day. I recommend that you get yourself a National Parks Golden Pass which is exclusively for elders like us. Get it soon, as the last time the man with the comb over got into office, he raised the price 400%. Who knows what that man will do, but I can assure you that he won't roll it back to the price I paid for mine. It will get you into every National Park in the country. It's a great bargain for people who like to visit our beautiful parks. It lasts a lifetime. Drive safely, Mr. Nomad. Thanks for stopping by my state. 🧙🏽‍♂️🇺🇸

Man, back in the 80's(probably before but I wasn't alive then) and into the 90's most of the trails around draper were dirtbike and horse trails. I'd spend hours on saturdays riding my kx80 around that lake.

Used to live in Hinton. We’d cruise through the park a lot when I was 16. Even fished that when I was little. I’m 42 it’s been year’s since I’ve been there.

My Dad was the head ranger in the park from 1968-1975. We lived in the park. Interesting to see how much it's changed and how much has stayed the same. There used to be a large beaver dam just up from the falls. It was a good place to fish for pike. I spent a lot of time in the old lodge. It's weird to see the remains of it. Almost like an archeological site. Thanks for posting.
