Literally no insight. He literally said maybe you go first, and maybe you go second.

I presented several options and discussed the reasons for each in a logical manner. There isn’t a clear answer which makes it fun. Try a few options as you have 18 holes to enjoy. You’ll probably figure it out in the first few holes.

Lol, it's perfectly ok to move the blue tee box up to the red?

Yep most people play from too far back and the rounds take over 5 or even 6 hours which is crazy. Play up and have fun!

@@CraigHocknullGolf Oh I know, I see it all the time. I'm a 5 handicap with a 300 yard drive and I still mostly play from the whites, unless the guys I'm playing with insist on blues. But you said it's perfectly ok to physically go pick up the blue tee box markers and move them to the Reds, to make you feel better.. I found that amusing lol, as some people out there would take it literally. Like the people who tried to charge their phones by putting them in a microwave because someone on KZbin told them it works 😂 Thank you for the videos, I am captain of a 4 man scramble today and I appreciate all the advice!

Best shot is just another way of saying you are hitting the best ball. 😅😅😅

However, there is a proper Golf format called “Best Ball”. A scramble is not a best ball. Best ball implies the result of a two person team with the lowest score counting for the entire hole. So it is not quite the same.

In Australia we play these scrambles as corporate days or charity days. Not much at club level. Most golfers refer to them as Shambles, because everyone cheats..

Yes no one knows all the rules. There is a different format here in America called a Shamble. It’s where everybody hits their tee shot you find the best tee shot, and everybody plays from there, but they play their own ball all the way into the hole and you take the best score for the team.

Of the 28 players in my 'ol Man League [Average age is probably 75 !!!]: only 3 have single digit handicaps; maybe 4 players have a handicap of 10-12; another 4 have handicaps of 13-16; and half the league pretty much sucks........ I mean really sucks. We have scrambles twice a year and they usually shift players around between teams, so that we get a chance to play with everyone eventually. [Laughing] I imagine once the "Captains" get behind closed doors to divvy up the players into teams, and the 'B' players are hashed out, the remainder of the conversations sounds like, "Oh, No, I had him last year. You gotta take him this year." Having said that, my drives usually are better [straighter, longer, better positioning] than the "A" "Captains". My putting sucks though, so I would assume they try to balance me out with a real old guy that has good putts but sucks at driving. [Laughing]

Sounds like a Netflix show to me! Grumpy old guys whacking balls and talking shit! I think everyone hopes to have a league like that! Have fun! Thanks for sharing!

A player should always put last
@CraigHocknullGolf
@CraigHocknullGolf Жыл бұрын
Yes I would agree except for this scenario. It’s a 20-30 foot put and your team mates B,C,D are struggling with their putting. Since a two putt is probable and watching their putts hasn’t helped so far the A player should putt to secure the two putt and show the others the line. Even if you putt poorly to say 5ft you still have a team putting from that distance to get the 2 putt. Sometimes the team just needs to see the line and speed to have a better chance and sometimes the A player needs a little pressure going first to make the putt.

A player is back stop. When approach shots get D and C player to hit up around green , B and A can go at Pin. Also keep same order all day

If u r in a scramble with four players and in a bunker than you really are struggling (I guess playing a third on a par 5 would sometimes make sense !)

Hey so what if you both shoot a ball and it lands on the green and the other doesn’t do you have to take the one on the green or can you opt to shoot from fringe
@CraigHocknullGolf
@CraigHocknullGolf 2 жыл бұрын
In a scramble you can choose whichever shot you want. You don’t have to take the ones on the green, especially if the one on the fringe is closer or just an easier shot. Hope that helps!

What happens if it's in a divot
@CraigHocknullGolf
@CraigHocknullGolf 4 жыл бұрын
If the divot is in the rough you and your team don’t have to play from the divot but you should stay in the rough within one club length of the original shot.

Thank you!!!! Awesome explanation! I feel so much better about the upcoming scramble now. As the beginner (Beginner, Intermediate, experienced, and pro 4 person teams) I was very nervous about this as I have only been playing for 7 months. Each team will all have the 4 player levels.. So everyone is basically handicapped with a beginner LoL. But I definitely don't want to hurt my teams chances... This explanation helps so much.. Basically it's the "Best Ball" play my husband and I do when the course is moving fast so we don't hold people up with me trying to get my ball down there.

Ldy. DarkHorse You are welcome! Don’t feel nervous. As a player on the team you will contribute way more often and way more frequently if you remain relaxed and just have fun. You can be the sacrifice putter and go first to show them the line. Don’t leave the putts short, go for it and who knows you may sink a few putts for the team. Let me know how you do!

Let's say your 1 club length takes you a spot where you would have automatic relief, such as a manmade immovable object or a cart path. Would you then be entitled to relief from that spot as well?

What about if you are behind a tree? Does that count as a condition?
@CraigHocknullGolf
@CraigHocknullGolf 6 жыл бұрын
Lee Pendegraft Yes..... So if the tree is in the rough you have a club length in the rough and can place the ball often times in a better place than behind the tree. Same for if the tree was in the fairway. Or if the tree was inside the margins of a hazard. The one club length can be a life saver.
