You probably should invest into some spears or a bow. Hunting flighty animals such as deer is much easier if you can try shoot arrows or throw spears at it from distance where it cannot see you.

Mushrooms do grow back in the same area they were before though not in the exact same spot. I think they regrow either during or after rain, not sure which it is. Harvesting mature wild crops after you've tilled the land under will yield as much as if you've grown it yourself. That is a bug, I think, and there's been talk about removing it in the 1.20 update.
@-antagonistic-Ай бұрын
@@hengsheng7963 that's a good bug, I'll be sure to exploit it. Thanks!
@wizardsworld1152Ай бұрын
yes, mushrooms grow back if harvested with a knife, and yes you always get a mushroom if harvested with a knife. Instead of just subsistence eating by foraging, you should make meals with mushrooms and wild vegetables and grains. you can mix wild vegetables with mushrooms for a meal, and wild grain with berries for a meal.

`10:00 Quartz in granite when you are in a Peridotite rock biome is HIGHLY suspicious and should be investigated when you have a bronze pickaxe. `You're welcome about slab direction info. Yes, I AM watching this video as I told you that I would. `Lead ore requires, at minimum, a copper pickaxe. `Mushrooms do eventually grow back. You do not need a knife to harvest them. `Currently, only a mod will give you bits/nuggets back when you remove excess metal while making an item on the anvil. There is also a mod that will allow you to place some metal items in a quern and get some nuggets back. This is especially useful if you end up with an excess amount of spear or arrow heads from panning lots of sand or gravel. I was about to type something about having plenty of food so you could pan through the night, and I remembered YOU HAVEN'T PLANTED ANY CROPS!!!!! `While you are out and about, it's easier to have a stack of sticks and tool heads for any project you are doing such as flint axes for lumber, flint shovels for clay, peat, dirt, sand, or gravel, and pickaxes for any extensive mining trips or when you plan to take on a large vein of coal, quartz, or iron. Having the flint already knapped is good so you're keeping your head up, and you're more alert against mobs. While in Vintage Story v1.19.x, it's better to use flint for mundane every day tasks until you get to iron/steel. When you get to v1.20, the flint will be much more important for making fire clay with blue/red clay, so you'll want to downgrade to stone tools. `It would be better to save a copper axe for when you're among ruins or caving. These are times when you may need the speed a metal axe can provide, or you may need it as a second or third weapon should you die and need to return to where you died ASAP before it despawns. `I don't know which Quality of Life mods you currently have, if any, but I would recommend a few such as auto map markers and more/additional map icons. A HUD. The Carry On mod, even if it's just to move items around in your base and not to put a chest on your back. Knapster to save yourself from getting carpal tunnel. Increased step height so you're not constantly hitting the space bar to go up blocks. Accessibility Tweaks is also another good one for sounds or visual effects. `I guess a roof and better lighting might be in order? Drifters don't usually spawn into buildings that are relatively well lit with fat lamps, torches, or lanterns. I would suggest you try for a thatch roof if you have a lot of tule reeds in your area until you can get enough wood or stone of your color choice to make a roof. In the meantime, you may want to make a small cellar to keep what little food you have fresher for longer. `Did you know you can cook cattail reed roots for food? I would consider them along the lines of starvation level food, but you can keep the roots forever as long as you don't process them, and you can replant them for cattails if you end up not needing to eat them. The reeds themselves don't rot, either, so it's good to stock up on them when you come across them. I would suggest you keep about 48-64 cattail reeds planted in your local area for their various uses, but any others you find you should dig up the roots and store for a starvation day. I prefer to plant my reeds on the dirt because I don't want to be bogged down in shallow water when a mob is after me.

I'd recommend you make a few spears and throw them into the wolves. It causes a lot more damage, although I was playing as a hunter and hunters do a bit more damage in ranged combat. And if you damage them enough they just run away.
@-antagonistic-2 ай бұрын
@@VitorEmanuelOliver yeah the black guard class doesn't do as much ranged damage, that's why I mainly stick to melee. However now that I'm in the copper age I can make a copper falx blade and three hit wolves and drifters.

`You can use hay bales made from grass to make a door or walls if you don't want to use dirt. You will always need grass for one reason or another early game. Hay bales are super easy to knock down in a pinch, too. They're also great for scaffolding. `If you put any group of slabs in your crafting grid, you can ensure they will be placed horizontally or vertically. Just keep placing them in the crafting grid until you get the direction you want. `There is no difference between a vegetable or a mushroom for food variety, since mushrooms are currently considered vegetables in VS. `Congratulations on the lucky tool RNG!! Yes, I will watch your next video.
@-antagonistic-2 ай бұрын
I know the mushrooms count as vegetables, I'm just thinking it would taste good in real life and that's why I add "variety", I know it's not required but I do it anyway. And honestly in all of my time playing Vintage Story, I never thought of using hay bales as scaffolding, thanks for the tip! Also expect me to reach the iron age before winter.

Really surprised you didn't do the number one thing in survival: Ensure you have shelter before doing anything else. @Sarafimm22 ай бұрын
@@-antagonistic- LOL You can do that in that Other Block Game, but NOT Vintage Story unless you are very, very lucky. Been playing since VS version 1.5.5 and in all the worlds I have created, the simplest 5x5x5 box house was almost always made out of dirt. Sometimes I was lucky enough to use some cobblestone as part of the build. Once, I dug into a deep hillside of blue clay and had blue clay walls that I dug out as needed to make molds. I think that was one of the best "dig a hole until you can get a real home built" bases I've ever had.
