I'm using a different weight oil as break in oil and less that 50 miles with this oil and the sec. chain broke. Coincidence? Not sure but I haven't even taken the motor over 4k rpm. I replace all the timing component except the secondary components (chain, tensioner, guides). Lesson learned. Change everything. Those few hundred bucks saved now is never worth it down the road. Unless you're psychic, there's no way to know how much life any specific component has left, so take the guess work out of the equation. Just my 2 cents from my experience.

My 2004 Ford Ranger with 109,000 original miles, I think it has has an oxygen sensorr problem now. My truck has been in the shop for a shifter cable once, not much else. I was thinking of straight piping it. In n az they don't require cats or smog checks. I'm going to have the codes read soon.
@carphrases3 ай бұрын
Given the information you've provided about your 2004 Ford Ranger, here are some thoughts: Oxygen sensor issue: This is a common problem in older vehicles. Oxygen sensors can fail over time, affecting fuel efficiency and engine performance. Getting the codes read is a good next step to confirm if this is indeed the problem. Straight piping: While it's true that Arizona doesn't require catalytic converters or smog checks, there are a few things to consider: It may increase engine noise significantly It could affect engine performance and fuel efficiency It's not environmentally friendly It might be illegal under federal law, even if not enforced locally Low maintenance history: With only one major repair (shifter cable) in its history, your truck seems to have been relatively reliable. This is positive, especially considering its age and mileage. Diagnostics: Having the codes read is an excellent idea. This will give you more precise information about what's going on with your truck. Before making any major modifications like straight piping, I'd recommend: Get the diagnostic codes read Address any immediate issues, like the potential oxygen sensor problem Research the full implications of straight piping (legal, performance, and environmental)

Is there a difference between a carburetor engine or an injected, , being an older model, say 1990 ?
@carphrases3 ай бұрын
There are indeed significant differences between carbureted and fuel-injected engines, especially when comparing older models from around 1990: Fuel delivery: Carburetors mix air and fuel mechanically Fuel injection systems deliver fuel directly into the engine electronically Efficiency: Fuel injection generally provides better fuel efficiency Carburetors can be less precise in fuel metering, especially in varying conditions Cold starting: Fuel-injected engines typically start more easily in cold weather Carbureted engines often need a choke to enrich the mixture for cold starts Performance: Fuel injection usually offers better performance and throttle response Carburetors can sometimes struggle with consistent performance at different altitudes Emissions: Fuel injection typically produces lower emissions Carbureted engines generally have higher emissions due to less precise fuel control Maintenance: Carburetors often require more frequent adjustments and cleaning Fuel injection systems are generally more reliable but can be more complex to repair Cost: In 1990, carbureted engines were typically less expensive Fuel injection systems were becoming more common but were still costlier By 1990, many car manufacturers were transitioning to fuel injection, but carbureted engines were still common, especially in lower-priced models or older designs.

It's Because streaming companies like Apple and Google signed a deal with automakers and now own your car. Regardless, how much you paid for your car, you don't actually own that car. So. now you get a crappy audio system. But, you can get fm transmitter with a portable cd player to broadcast on a radio frequency.
