Fun fact: That year (2001) James Horner was asked to write the music for both the first _Harry Potter_ and the first _Lord of the Rings._ He declined both offers in order to do _A Beautiful Mind_ instead.

Hymn to the fallen moves me each and every time I hear it. It is an epic track which pays homage to men and women who's sacriface literally saved the world from a true evil.

The original score was initially set to be composed by Howard Shore, who had written several cues for the film. Due to creative differences with Jackson, Shore opted out of the project in October 2005 and subsequently James Newton Howard replaced him. With scoring beginning by late-October 2005, Howard had only five weeks to work on the film, as a result, he found the film "hardest to compose". Recording sessions took place at the Sony Scoring Stage, California and Todd-AO, Los Angeles, consisting of 108-piece orchestra and 40-member choir, and a varied range of instruments used.

RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON The best movie that Disney has ever made, it's a shame that the same company has rejected it and that the same stupid and mediocre people who say that this beautiful movie is a complete disappointment or shit as if they were an example to follow even knowing that those people Those who speak ill of Raya and the Last Dragon have miserable lives and say horrible things about Raya and the Last Dragon simply to get everyone's attention. 🤩🤩😘🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

It's sad to read the comments on this video from when he was alive, and knowing he isn't here anymore. James Horner was a true legend, and my biggest inspiration as an aspiring film composer. It's a shame I can never meet him.

"She paints her face to hide her face. Her eyes like deep water. It is not for Geisha to want. It is not for Geisha to feel. Geisha is an artist of the floating world. She dances. She sings. She entertains you, whatever you want. The rest is shadows. The rest is secret."

Thank you John Williams for bringing to the world of cinema the most intense and sweet feeling that can ever be developed for this great medium... Your music shakes our souls in honor and respect to those great men who fell in Omaha and on other fronts ... sadly this feeling of respect for the work of these men for peace, is again overshadowed by the ambition of the descendants of the promoters of slaughterhouses of men and women, these beings who without remorse, still do not feel what they you deliver through music; that little remnant of humble humanity that we still have as "civilization"... Thank you for drawing the notes of my childhood and recording in my memories every work in which your music moved every fiber of my being... thank you John, My family and I give you our deepest thanks.

A few thoughts about this: very few of us get to watch a movie without any of its music which is what film composers do routinely. Can't imagine what this must be like (tho eating a cake with only half its ingredients springs to mind). The gift of JW - and all other great composers of film music - is to magically encapsulate the essence of a movie within seconds without the audience being consciously aware of it. It follows that for me Memoirs of a Geisha and AI are 2 of JW's greatest scores. I'd also like to mention Oliver Stone's JFK where, again, right from the very outset JW's music manages somehow to inform the audience about the very dark and murky nature of the film they're about to watch. (John Barrie's Midnight Cowboy and Nino Rota's Godfather do the same thing).
