The Plymouth Separatists were willing to return to the Church of England if it cleansed itself of Popery. They were not second degree separatists as was Roger Williams who reviled anyone who would while back in England attend a C of E Church. Now the Church the Pilgrims left has gone Woke much like Pope Francis. The Pilgrims did the right thing

So we are informed by the narrator that in reality, Sylvia Plath’s father is a nice guy? Yet the poem is praised by feminists for its “unadulterated rage towards male dominance?” Also, this is NOT one if the “best” examples of confessional poetry because the poet herself said explains that the character in the poem is a woman who has an Electra Complex. Even the quote, “childish” tone of the character would would make feminism seem rather childish, bitter, and whiny. The problem with this analysis is that narrator (a disgruntled woman) keeps trying to apply a feminist critique to it, instead of even TRYING to understand Jung’s fascinating Electra Complex, or basic human psychology. Sylvia Plath was far smarter than this cry-baby drivel presented here.

This analysis is horribly wrong. The Feminist use of it's construct is ludicrous and offers a clear indication that the poem is not understood by them.

Suzanne! Sister of light and insight-of wise whisper! Thanks so much for this excellent, helpful video. It brought clarity to me. God bless you! 💛🙏🏼 PS, I do vary a little: Roger Williams and Ann Hutchinson were, I think, only heretics in JW’s eyes. They had very good ideas-which weren’t appreciated. 🙂

I strongly disagree, and I am sure that Baldwin would, too, that there is "not one clear meaning or lesson in this story". There are many meanings and lessons in this story; too numerous to name. "Sonny's Blues" is intended for Black readers who know the inner-workings of urban communities. This analysis is another example of how Black lives are marginalized by non Black readers.
@musicsavage44563 жыл бұрын
your comment literally made no sense. Since there is not a single, exclusive, clear meaning denotes that there are many meanings. And yes... this analysis screams black marginalization... the comment above, folks, is an example of racism

You strongly disagree that there is "not one clear meaning or lesson in this story". Your argument against it is that there are many meanings and lessons in this story. That's exactly was the thesis proposes. So you literally confirm that there is "not one clear meaning or lesson in this story". There are many. Q.e.d.

I disagree with most of your analysis. I was prepared to deconstruct your opinions point by point, however, a phone call interrupted my response and now I am struggling-- I am literally at a loss for words. So....I looked at the pic, noted the tone of your voice, the pedantic form, and your .....look, I'll just suggest that it might be a good idea to read it again, read or listen to POV's differing from your own, and peel several layers more off this metaphorical onion. If you still stand by this analysis-- you haven't convinced anyone outside the feminist dogmatism camp. No offense intended. P.S. you have an excellent vocabulary.

Why did John Winthrop sail to America?

He escaped religious persecution. The puritans sailed to North America, because they wanted a place where they can form a religious community according to their wishes.
