In last 10 years, this is the first time I'm hearing someone complain about Surface Pro's form factor. This 2-in-1 form factor isn't designed for everyone in the first place. If someone wants to use it on their laps then better to buy a laptop. Surface Pro has its own productivity points and that's why it has a specific target audience.

In 2022 I purchased an Apple Mac Studio computer with the M1 max and 32gb of memory and 1 terabyte solid state drive. I also purchased the Apple Studio Display. Since I am just a home user doing such things as running Safari for web browsing, looking at photographs, watching videos, watching movies, using email, and calendar and contacts, the 32gb of memory is more than enough all the time. I was surprised to see that using the video editing using Adobe Premier Pro used up around 80gb of memory. It looks like that application would require a Apple Mac Studio computer with the M1or M2 ultra and 128gb of memory.

I got the base M1Max studio(32gb ram) with 2tb storage. Love the thing. If I did 3d it would be different, but for video editing it’s never let me down. New Mini Pro is tempting me but realistically I’m good for another couple years probably. Oh and that 2tb storage… best decision I ever made.

Can't use it on your Lap? Just detach the keyboard and use it like an iPad for iPad like tasks (note taking, watching KZbin/movies). Need to use it as full fledged computer, palce it on a desk. Simple as that.

I don't think it's competing with an iPad air, I think it's competing with the iPad Pro which is about the same price, except this can do a lot more because it's not limited by iPad OS. Also I agree that the default surface stylus is not the best, but supports 3rd party stylus, all of them feature full and a lot of them are really good so you have the choice to buy a better stylus instead. Most apple pencil alternatives are missing features cause apple doesn't allow 3rd parties to use their tech

I own a M2 Max Studio 64GB...it's just crazy good. I miss my games, I really do, but the fact that I can just open a HEVC H.265 10bit 4:2:2 file and don't have to worry...makes me not want to go back.

Say you love your ipad without saying you love your ipad. I have both the ipad and the surface. The more i get familiar with the surface the better i like it.
