rare to have a host include info on the "slop", or lack of it in this case, in the steering of old cars. it can be a real nuisance and real expense to fix. this one's lovely BTW. :) the original very narrow tires (by today's standards anyway) were a real advantage and maybe a necessity before power steering became commonplace. makes steering much much easier. have to say that i don't car at all for the dual spotlights as, at the time, simply hacked a hole right through the base of the A pillar. weaking it and creating four additional locations for water to enter the frame. smh.

Never owned a 67 SS but did own a new [demonstrator] marina blue 66 SS 396 2 door hardtop, 325hp, 4 speed, 3.73 posi rear ! Fun car to drive for the 17 months I owned it. Traded it in on a new red 67 Pontiac GTO convertible, Wish I still had both or either of these cars [sigh].

After owning three 67's; 2 two door hard tops, and a convertible the convertible was the favorite; a 350 cubic inch with a three speed auto. It wrapped around a lamp standard on a rainy night! Ah the 80's were great, but there was no retro parts for this car back then. Cheers, thank you for the post!

My father , with my help, ordered of these in 1964. I picked out the colors, Rangoon Red with a black interior. I wasn't able to convince my Dad to get the 427 because he didn't want to deal with solid lifters and my mother needed an auto as she was hell on clutches. We settled on the 300HP 390 with a 3 speed cruise-o-matic tranny. In September of 1965 I was 15 and took my driver's road test with this car. You had to parallel park to get your license back then, and the car was over 17 feet long. I passed with flying colors. Had a lot fun with that car until Dad, with my help, ordered a 1968 Ford Galaxie 500XL GT fastback. It was black with a gold strip running down the side and had a red interior. What a beautiful car, until 1971 when a drunk driver ass ended me at a red light and totaled it. Side note: The 1966 Pontiac Catalina with the 325 HP 389 that my buddie's family owned was not as pretty as the Galaxie 500XL GT, but would eat it's lunch!

The fuel tank in the cab behind the seat always gave me the willies. Listening to gas slosh around behind you can be unnerving.

When you grew up with ALL trucks having the tank behind the cab it was nothing strange. And the tanks have baffle to keep the sloshing to a barely noticeable level.
