What Sony needs to do is instead of making games that either push an agenda or give them a quick dollar they need to focus on making GOOD games and stuff that the community wants every time they have done that it’s been a massive success but unpopular opinion but I also blame Xbox and Nintendo because Sony has been able to pull this crap and get away with it because nobody can challenge them anymore

The crazy thing to me is they haven't done anything with Sly Cooper Jak and daxter any of their could be argued franchises that help build their brand in decades now and they actually deserve remasters not a game that's not even 10 years old

God Horizon Zero Dawn looks so ugly nowadays. It desperately needs a remaster to come out like yesterday.

They are remastering games that would take little to no effort due to the fact they really don’t have anything huge coming out until 2025 and need to fill the gap. If these remasters are true I hope no one will buy them, it’s ridiculous to do “remasters” of games that are a few years old

I also think they should wait longer to remake games. I missed several games because I didn't have a PS3. I would love to play some of these. Or remakes of some PS2 games. There are a lot older games I would like to play again. I love HZD but I won't by the remake right now. Maybe in a sale when it's older. The only thing they could really improve with this remake is the controller feedback and the habtic triggers. I know that doesn't belong to playstation but I would love to play the Prince of Persia Sands of time trilogy again. 😁

What absolutely kills me about Horizon remaster is that Capcom of all companies simply released patch for PS5 and Xbox series consoles that upgraded Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake to current gen. Yeah, for some version you had to pay for patch, but it was just an upgrade patch. There is no need in "Remastering" game like that. Did everyone forgot how much flag did 505 games got for forcing players to buy Ultimate Edition of Control to get PS5/Xbox series upgrade? I could still get idea why PS4 release of Last of Us was a separate purchase - because you can't play PS3 games on anyt other console aside of PS3. Hell, PS3 could play PS1 titles off the disc, why not make that a thing? Why is that when it comes backwards compatibility, something Sony literally brought to mass market at the turn of millenium (I know about Megadrive being able to play Master system games but you had to buy an adapter for cartridges after all - in PS1 case you only needed a disc) can only play few games that Sony allows you to play while Xbox has much better list of backwards compatible games from OG Xbox and 360 era? What the actual fuck, Sony? I don't believe that "Political BS" is a factor here, Sony just wants you to forget about old games existing and wants you to buy new ones that they can monetize more and with better consistency. And that's at the same time as they are basically releasing their exclusives on Steam and Valve having massive success with Steamdeck.

Modern gaming is a joke at this point. They are remastering games that do not need to be remastered because they are creatively bankrupt. They have their head so far up their own ass they have no idea what popular IP they even own. This has been the worst generation of gaming there has ever been to be a console gamer. At this point, getting into PC gaming is really the only way forward that makes any sense.

i agree neither HZD nor DG need remasters. but i also think the same was true for TLOU. the game only got a graphical facelift, the remaster of 2 was just dumb. I totally agree that especially Killzone and Resistance need to come back asap. space marine 2 shows what ppl really want.

Man all the titles that goes back to PS1 my childhood off the top of my head, Syphon Filter, Fighting Force, GEX, Jet Moto, Cool Boarders, Air Combat, ONE, etc… PS1 Should be top priority at being Remade no political BS just remade in Better graphics and controls for PS5 why is this so hard?! Why keep going back to PS3, PS4 titles?… Those were not even the Best Gen of Games! Makes no sense!

well Sony fan too : Sony is lazy and can't any risk, it seems, in 2024. Well... If you check Concord, Sony lost 400 millions dollars. It seems that Sony is so afraid to do something that... this company doesn't do major now. PSVR 2 ? Well, let's be honest , it's niche product with ... not a good future. Concord ? A disaster.. And in the last 10 years, Sony got rid of Studio Japan, the studio responsible for Wipeout, etc. Now it's clear that full digital gaming is now on, even if you still like physical Games. If you add a questionable new console Pro , claiming that , like say a certain Microsoft, that you can improve your old PS4 / PS5 games with this new Pro... Without showing any images or videos.....And Sony claimed that it needs "new licences"... What? What about infamous, Gravity rush, Ico, shadow of colossus,.....Microsoft tried to create a netflix system.. with more or less success.. but at least they try !! Sony is a bad spot : Sony sells much more console than Microsoft, but... we keep to get re re re masters (check The last of us... Pretty silly).

Sony has a back catalog of great titles that are just sitting there doing nothing. How about start with easy wins such as remastering all the old Ratchet games. Was playing through them and they are bit dated. Horizons still looks amazing and has zero need for a remaster.

The only thing that a remaster would really be worth for is if they added the glider and the grapple/pullcaster from Forbidden West but I'm pretty sure that would break some of the story elements and the world design so it's not gonna happen. I skipped Zero Dawn and played Forbidden West first and I can't imagine going back to ZD now without the glider and some of the other core mechanics that the sequel brought that I'm used to.

Bloodborne, The Last Guardian and War of the Monsters are the remasters/remakes I'd like to see.

Remasters have been a part of Sony's strategy for a long long time. Used usually during dry 1st party spells to pad the release calendar. The issue is they haven't changed the time periods, despite the fact that games are not improving as quickly as they did previously. It made sense to remaster God of War in 2009 despite being only 4 years old because the technical leap between PS2 and PS3 was huge. It doesn't make sense to remaster a PS4 game beyond a patch to the existing game, to remove any locks on framerate, resolution or texture quality. It also doesn't make sense to remake a game you already remastered last gen, like The Last of Us. The remake would have gotten less criticism around existing, if the only previous version was the PS3 version. I think also you're looking at what to remake or IPs to go back to from a fans perspective. Sony are looking at it from a numbers perspective. No matter what love people have for some of the franchises they keep saying they want online, Sony has numbers that showed these games did not sell last time they made them. Rightly or wrongly, they consider them dead IP. Bloodbourne for example sold so few copies, Sony just do not care. If it didn't sell 10M+ Sony don't care. Days Gone didn't sell enough for Sony to consider a sequel and I think it sold 8M copies on PS4. It has gained traction over time, so they're maybe thinking a re-release can make that IP big enough to be worthy of a sequel. The HZD remake is probably a way to re-use some of the work done on the cancelled Horizon online game. A way to quickly recoup some of the investment they put into that project. PlayStation in my opinion are honestly scrambling. They had this model for PS4 where they put out all these big AAA movie-esq games. But the budgets for those games are ballooning. The income isn't increasing. They're not selling more copies.So there's a real worry inside PlayStation that eventually you make a game, you sell 10M copies and you barely break even. Or worse you lose a little. That's not speculation. That was in those insomniac leaks. Jim Ryan thought GAAS was the answer. Get some GAAS title bringing in some revenue, use that to support the development of the AAA single player games. Use those games as the main advertising for PlayStation. A plan which might have worked. For example if you had 10 games like Helldivers 2. Modest budget, Fairly popular. Will bring in a level of consistent revenue. But they didn't do that. They put big budgets into these GAAS. Defeating the entire purpose of them. Then presented them to an audience that they had conditioned to like single player action games. Concord bombed. Fairgame$ and Marathon already have their work cut out. People are already against them. They put significant money into a bunch of GAAS they cancelled. Bungie is a money pit. So the main model of AAA single player games they're known for are financially flawed. The 'fix' of GAAS has made everything worse. They're scrambling to remakes which is annoying the userbase. They're dominating the console sales market but have put themselves in a really bad financial position. It's almost boom or bust. They're not too big to fail. They need an answer to divert course. But with game dev taking so long, course correction will take half a decade at least.

They can improve the game feel.. the junping, bow shooting and melee feel much improved in FW. Also yea they can bring the dialogues up to the standard of Frozen Wilds.

What I would change about both is that they weren't hard enough as you leveled up. On both but exp Day's Gone I cri[pled myself just to make it more challenging. No buying weapons, ammo, etc.

This idea that these are the best games they could come up with to remaster is baffling in and of itself but not unexpected. This is the same company that has had leadership claim that they have no IP's to choose from... right after launching a game that literally celebrates hundreds of PlayStation owned IP's. I can think of so many games that deserve a remaster or at the very least a re-release. The Getaway, The Mark of Kri, the Resistance Games, hell they could remaster Twisted Metal Black to go along with the TV show thats about to have another season!! So many missed opportunities to bring back and spark interest in old IP's.

was always a ps guy myself. never played 3 or 4 but put hundreds of hours into 2. thinking about finally pulling the trigger on the bundle for pc. good video brother.

On PC it's not too bad, you can modify it to run at 60fps, it's clean af.. I know people dislike 3, and I sort of get it, but 3 took away the jank. I cant play the previous ones because how goofy the camera acts or the AI.
