A surprise trip.....you get a surprise when your wife tells you where you're going. Small towns are friendly. I'm at murgon. How are you finding the off road van after this time. Besides the shocking giving out? Structurally sound?
@LandTourier
@LandTourier Ай бұрын
Hey my friend, Yes small towns are the best... We ended up selling for full time cruising and living. The van, like everything had its good and bad, the good was other than the weight the van towed great. very aerodynamic design allows no wind resistance at all. Built like a bloody tank, a 3 ton van with 280 on the ball. with the new shocks handled very well through the turns at speed. The not so good. Build quality and electrical system Chinese and you can defiantly tell. very uncomfortable seating and mattress was hard as a rock, no harder. No insulation, walls either burning hot or freezing cold. If they did this van right it would be amazing. You get what you pay for I guess, even though it was $40,000 second hand. But that's what happens to the dollar when central banks print out of thin air. NOT going to end well.... Cheers mate and thanks for the chat. Hope this answered some questions. Yes, have relatives at Murgon, great town. Brian and Deb🍻

@LandTourier Brian, I really appreciate your response. I'm not rich but l may get something lighter and better insulation re your comments. Re Chinese electrical. When I retired from qld. Fire and rescue I went to Sydney and did smoke alarms for 3 years. The door bells in the 5yo to new buildings hand flashy Chinese components. They didn't work after 12 mths or so causing all sorts of dramas in the medium rise complexes. But the old button and light from the past still worked and released the door. I wouldn't live in Sydney even if they doubled my pension. Love the small town (not by choice) but turned out beautifully.

So they lasted 4 years? Would it be best if i were to replace on purchase? Hows the van otherwise?
@LandTourier
@LandTourier Ай бұрын
Hey mate, yes I'd replace immediately. Handling was soooo much better with new shocks even before old ones totally went.. We sold this van, very uncomfortable for long term living and no insulation at all. If you haven't purchased yet there are better IMO.. Maybe the new models are a bit better. The galvanising on the chassis was terrible. Chinese builds...You get what you pay for I guess. Austrack are better outfitted for a Chinese import and build quality better. MDC are pretty good but you pay for it like anything. Chinese import again.. Hope this helps mate. Cheers Brian

Hey mate, thanks so much for your kind words. When looking at them note, They are very solid on the draw, like 200kg. The original mattress is unusable. Insulate the storage areas. The walls inside are not insulated. Freezing to touch or boiling to touch. The good. Tows great once new quality shocks are installed. Sooo strong in storms, doesn't move , like a tank. Go anywhere if your vehicle can pull it. Check out the Austracks also. They were our pick but none available. Best of luck mate. Cheers Brian and Deb 🍻👍

Do yourselves a favour, get two exhaust cushion mounts, the kit has new nuts supplied but guaranteed the p/n 17567-17010 will be rooted, buy them ahead of build, best price I found is x3 for $17🇦🇺, three day post. Or repco has @$16 a pop. And if you want to do an excellent job, get new studs, if like me, some studs work out with frozen nut, the genie flange is thinner than original manifolds, you don’t want to be gripping alloy by half depth, so to speak. Good luck, and it’s also going to be handy to have one of those thiefstealing ‘CAT’ demolishing saws with a metal cutting blade, some of the original mounting flanges will not rattle off.

Hey mate, no vid on install however super easy direct swap out. Only regret maybe is not going 3" The 2.5" awesome for extractors and this system but when I went to turbo the boys said 3" would have been better but 2.5" would still do. Also, had to go back to standard manifold and throw the new extractors for the turbo install. Exhaust and extractors did get some noticeable gains also with the K&N serviceable filter. Also noticeable gain with the filter alone. However they didn't give the torque that I needed. The turbo did get this..👍 Cheers mate, hope you got something out of this🍻 cheers Brian

Berrima Diesel claim to be experts in their field. I write this review in utter disappointment and disgust at the service and workmanship that Berrima Diesel claim to provide. I write this review with a warning to people looking to book Berrima Diesel...DO NOT! You will have your money taken with their claim of expertise and be very disappointed with the outcome. You will then raise your concerns and be gaslit. I will be branded disgruntled etc but somebody needs to hold these 'experts' to account.

Hey mate, The mod # on the end of the box was, 36-5487 Efs Elite.....EFS 4wd.com.au has them . efs4wd.com.au/product/efs-elite-shock-absorber-rear-36-5487/ 4x4mods and direct suspensions also have listings. Even though the original shocks, all of them, blew out basically at the same time it still handled reasonably well fully loaded. We had done some pretty shit roads back from Cunnamulla just before it. Wondering if your issue to get "white knuckle" events are something else also? If your van was empty, they tow really well I think. they have a 220kg ish ball weight. Does your vehicle have solid firm suspension on it to handle the heavy ball weight also? This can float the front end around.. Just wondering my friend. Best of luck. Any other help if you need to bounce something off of me is cool. 🍻Cheers mate Brian

Hi mate, awesome! Haven't had to touch anything. Power is on point. No oil leaks. No hose leaks. Just a literal set and forget upgrade. Totally worth the drive from sunny coast to Berrima to deal with these guys. Would do it all again in a heart beat. These motors are in my humble opinion, are dangerously underpowered, especially to tow, without a turbo. Many turbo guys also wind the psi up too much and crank up the fuel pumps causing the piston tops to literally blow off from the heat in these hzj80 engine's. The Berrima team know the safe parameters to run these upgrades. Oh, also I get no kick backs for anything I say about these guys. They are just honest and sport great products and have heaps of knowelage. Hope this helps. Cheers mate, Brian 🍻👍
