Too fast, hope they got to the train station in time! Otherwise good singing but so frantic!

Check out this version, though it starts slower, the wheel rolls faster as they go along and the dynamic variation is greater and also. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2jMkKt3lsl6nbc

Amazing performance! Very impressive, especially when you consider the vastness of the space, the choir delivers extremely well articulated rhythm and excellent diction. Love the ending!! Bravo!

It may have been fast as hell, but it was so much fun to sing it that way!

Too fast you say? Well, the tempo is faithful to William Dawson's score, which was marked quarter note = 112. Yes, sounds really fast and is often performed less quickly. But this is accurate to the arranger, for what it's worth (which, as well-sung as this is, I think is worth a lot!).

this is faster than 112 though

@@entertainersmusicschool Yes, slightly - about 122. Still, this is a good sight more faithful to Dawson's concept than other's renditions.

Brilliant dynamics. Excellent attack. Not-so-bad-tone. But why, why, why so stinkin' fast?????

This matches pretty closely to the tempo the composer demanded when he was conducting.

So white. Try The Dixie Hummingbirds and their astonishing bass, William Bobo, when he, among other tonal achievements, hits a Bb two octaves below middle C! (I shiver to write this.) And, uh, choir leader, there's really a lot to be said for crisply enunciated lyrics. Really!
