I adore this album .... TFTO is one of their most complex, but can still discover something new in it on every listening. Close to the Edge and Relayer are brilliant and classic albums, but this one is so adventurous and heartfelt. And this is a great live version of a difficult piece. Thanks for posting ....

I'm first? Tales are my favorite album from Yes. I was introduced to them when I was 15 with this album. Incredible that I later helped Alan White put on a drum clinic so many years later. Unbelievable really when I think about it. RIP Alan and Chris. Thank you for your music.

This is Jim Boquist on lead vocals. I spoke to Dave and he confirmed it is Jim- not himself on lead vocal here. Jim also sang lead on the "Old Dutch" demo. These plus a demo of "Ain't No More Cane" (Jay lead vocal) were recorded between 1995 and 1996

@@skipb.9205 One of the questions I had for Dave was why this and "Seven To A Room" haven't been released. His response was "ask Jay". So, it's clear that Jay doesn't want to release these demos, probably his ego and the fact that he is not singing lead vocal is my guess. But he does own the rights to them as they are Son Volt songs, so even if Dave and Jim wanted to, I don't believe that legally they can release them on their own.
@dathorndike49084 ай бұрын
I didn't think to ask Dave when I had the chance if there was proper studio recordings of this and "Seven To A Room" that went beyond the demo stage. Probably should have in hindsight.
@dathorndike49084 ай бұрын
Jim Boquist did all the harmony vocals with Jay when he was in Son Volt. Dave didn't contribute vocals.
@danielaloi80624 ай бұрын
@@dathorndike4908 funny, that's what Jeff tended to say whenever asked about the Tupelo split -- "you'll have to ask Jay" ... also have a recording of Jeff saying at a solo show ca. 1999: "for the record, I don't hate Jay Farrar."
