Your comments are really fucking worthless!!! i THINK THIS, and THINK THAT, or "You have to WONDER how long this will last", "Will the plastic crack????" Well, you're the ones that are supposed to be TESTING this shit and TELLING US!!! How about you do some research and FIND OUT, how often do the plastic housings crack???? Don't 'just fucking GUESS, do some fucking RESEARCH!!! You talked about the Rigid, and said the top part was plastic and concerned you. Mine lasted over TWENTY YEARS with HEAVY HEAVY USAGE!!!!! No issue with the plastic, leading one to wonder just show much problems do the OTHER pumps with plastic parts have problems. Instead of fucking GUESSING and wasting out time, how about having some FACTS to tell us, such as "according to consumer reports, these plastic housings fail more frequently", etc. DOes not good to stand there with your fucking thumb up your ass and GUESS at what might fail and might not. Also, why the hell didn't you include LIBERTY PUMPS in your eval??? They are one of if not THE MOST HIGHLY RATED SUMP PUMP THERE IS. ????????? Didn't even incllude it?????
@BenDover4Mee

So, in other words you don't recommend ANY of them!!! every single one you found faullt with! Aso, WHY THE HELL didn';t you talk about the last two pumps in the picture???? You also didn't talk about which pumps tend to have switches that fail often. That would be the MOST IMPORTANT fact to mention. You also mentioned the one pump that you felt had a good switch technology except for the plastic switch arm, yet the RIGID pump also has a plastic arm but you didn't mention anything about that. Why would you think a plastic arm might not hold up well??????? There is extremely little stress on it, it only has to activate a switch. THat had to be one of the dumbest comments you made in the whole video.

I have a Zoeller. The short stem on the float is unacceptable. When I get a heavy rain I get what seems to be an underground river. I get a heavy in flow of water into my pit which will go for days before the underground river finally dries up. When the pit is filling up the pump is going off every 15 seconds and pumps for about 10 seconds. The stem is not long enough to allow the water level and float to rise to a decent level. Raising the pump higher does not solve the problem. Lowering the pump also does not solve the problem either. The stem must be longer so the float will rise higher before setting off the pump. Any suggestions?

Added precaution: if you have Ring alarm system, add freeze/flood sensor at the top of the sump pit. Any detection of temps below 42 degrees or minute traces of water will trigger a phone call (mine saved me this morning at 5am). Secondly, keep a submersible pump and garden hose nearby as backup. If the sump goes out, I attach hose to submersible pump, drop it in the pit and place the other end of hose in sink or shower basin (or outside).

Cast iron 😂 this dudes got a big boner for cast iron. Cast iron is junk plastic and stainless steel are superior. Cast iron is weak and easily cracks because of how porus it is. It being porus also makes it corode and rust easily. Ive replaced a lot of cast iron pumps and rarely replace a composite or stainless pump. Look at guns for example lots of guns have plastic. I wouldnt dare shoot a gun that had any cast iron parts.

Respectfully I have to disagree. Cast Iron pump rust badly and the impeller gets jammed up. I hate plastic impellers because they strip out when you turn them on. Stainless is really the only way to go if you want something to last.

Not so much about cast iron as "Made in USA" Liberty and Zoeller [not from box stores!] Plastic is actually great because its doesn't encrust and rot like HDPE.

Hard to tell because of the video quality, but the PVC looks like it's thin-walled PVC, not the schedule 40 some installers prefer. I know I'm well beyond 200 pounds and my Sch 40 doesn't give an inch when I stand on it. The debate of PVC over corrugated will rival that of Mac vs Windows, Xbox vs Playstation. I'm no expert, but I made a decision to extend my own pipes with PVC since to me a smooth flat interior pipe (properly sloped) will not catch water the way hundreds of little corrugated ribs would.

The original Penberthy sump pump in my house had a mercury tilt switch. It was original on the pump and never failed with 52 years of service. (The motor locked up). Switches today are consumed like candy.

The first generation tile failed badly if you have trees around the area, the roots gotten into the pipe and blocking the flow of water. Our strata units have been hammer with roots and basement flood has been issue since Christmas snow and rain. Now we are digging it up and not cheap repair!

Certified plumber here. What I do when this occurs is run a long line of pex down the line to the blockage, then pour boiling hot water through it until everything is cleared out. Don’t know about clay pipes (all the older homes used cast pipes up here in Canuck Land) but this doesn’t damage anything that isn’t already damaged from something else (ie rotted out cast iron pipes)
