Like the history of EMS and paramedic
@altonbradley7172 жыл бұрын
Once again the Paramedics of Haywood County NC are overlooked when discussing the history of EMS. The first paramedic course there began in 1969, well before many of the "big city" services started. What's more impressive is these men were all volunteers who worked full time day jobs, completing their training at night. This story is told very well by Jim Page, who paid a visit to the mountains of western North Carolina in the early 1970s and is chronicled in his book "The Paramedics."

Great video. However, seems odd that Information Science experts (as a primary field) would not be included in this. Informatics requires a different skill set. The best way I’ve seen this described is understanding the difference between a real physician and one who plays a physician on TV. They appear to be the same but a real physician may be LESS convincing than an actor at portraying a physicians because an actor is skilled at convincing others of his/her portrayal. Playing a physician is a different skill set altogether. It’s more “meta” like Information Science.

How can one follow a career on medical AI
@McWilliamsSBMI4 жыл бұрын
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing modern healthcare as highly advanced machines can predict, comprehend, learn, and act to enhance the practice of medicine. To launch a career where you use AI in healthcare, you need to have sufficient experience in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. Also, experience with programming languages used in those roles is necessary. Many positions require a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Applied Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other disciplines with curriculum in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Cognitive Science, Deep Learning or other related sciences. Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages is a necessity as well (C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Go, Python, etc.). Our program offers several courses students can take to become educated on the field of AI. We invite you to explore our certificates and degrees in Biomedical Informatics on our website. You can also visit our website to learn more about the impact AI is having on healthcare: sbmi.uth.edu/blog/2019/ai-is-to-medicine-today-what-the-xray-was-to-medicine-a-century-ago.htm.

Hello viewer.. Grady Health Care System; is in urgent need of physician and health practitioners. Since Grady first opened in 1892, we have continually reinvented ourselves to meet the region’s evolving medical needs. In the 1890s, that meant providing the same quality of care for rich and poor, black and white. In the 1920s, it meant performing Georgia’s first open-heart surgery. In 2013, it meant creating the first neurological surgical suite within a dedicated stroke center to remove blood clots from the brains of stroke victims. Tomorrow, it will be something we can barely imagine. Grady Health Care is in urgent need of physicians, nurses and healthcare workers, who can provide Grady patients with unparalleled care in specialties like cancer, urology, cardiology, neurology, and chronic disease - as well as the more routine, like family medicine and senior care. Qualified and interested individual can send Cv/Resume to [email protected], for a chance to work with one of the biggest health care System in USA.

What's the difference bitween Medical Informetics and Health Informetics....pls
@McWilliamsSBMI4 жыл бұрын
According to HIMSS, Medical Informatics is the interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management and planning. Another definition of Medical informatics is the intersection of information science, computer science, and health care. This field deals with the resources, devices, and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in health and biomedicine. Health informatics The definition of health informatics or biomedical informatics is “the interdisciplinary, scientific field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving and decision making, motivated by efforts to improve human health.” The two terms are closely related and often used interchangeably.

Is a masters in health informatics sufficient to be successful or are HIM certifications a must for job opportunities?
@McWilliamsSBMI4 жыл бұрын
The answer to this question depends on several factors including what type of career you want to explore, your undergraduate education & your work experience. But note that HIM certifications are offered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and are for professions seeking health information careers and not necessarily health informatics careers. A degree in health or biomedical informatics will allow a student to explore an interdisciplinary field that integrates healthcare, technology, and research practices intended to analyze and protect patient data, improve on healthcare efficiencies, and enhance the level of patient care provided. Someone with a RHIT will have a career focused around the quality of medical/health records by verifying their completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems. A RHIA professional handles management of patient health information and medical records, administering computer information systems, collecting and analyzing patient data, and using classification systems and medical terminologies.
