Growing up and feeling that life was not so bad but then it all sunk in that we sometimes have to fail and fail again but if we fail it's not life we're failing it's ourselves and it's never too late to make the change that was causing us to fail so many times, but as ppl we will never be alright unless you want to be alright.. You know, I don't like being the old guy who says things like "...well, back in MY day..." and I try to avoid that, except when it comes to music. I have two sons who are always coming up to me going "dad you gotta listen to this" and they will play me some new Beyonce or Bruno Mars or whatever off Spotify and ask me what I think. They just can't grasp what they're trying to compete with. New music to me was Boston's first album, or Aerosmith Toys in the Attic or Ted Nugent. The local rock station in my town was Q95 out of Indy and I remember listening to the radio release of Back in Black from ACDC. Then Hotel California then Dancing Days from Led Zeppelin. Those were the "pop" songs being played on the radio. So while I will not argue with anyone's taste regarding music, I will tell them what I am use to and my level of expectations.
