Reva yells at Kyle not to shoot Cain so Kyle immediately shoots Cain twice. Lol I ain’t mad at cha, Kyle.

The Claire actress should've been acknowledged for her role in 1986. Definitely emmy material, imo.

The prosecution could have argued that Billy was acting hypnotized to save himself, but whatever.

It amazes me that with all the life-altering events Maeve had - getting married, having a baby, being hospitalized in critical condition - GL had not a single relative of hers show up.

GL totally sucked by this time. It didn't become watchable again until 1990, in my opinion. (the years '79-'82 were the best!)

Ah. 1986. Reva’s hair is so crunchy and hardened. When she pulled the veil off, it made a huge scraping noise because of her styling mousse and hairspray! Her Green vampire cape is gorgeous. Then Babrbra started wailing. Lol.

I was in College when this aired. I remember it well. The old run down cottage by the River was great. I have always LOVED the musical score they used when Kyle walks into Reva Bend the very fist time. This was Reva's theme for many years after.

She ended up in peril later on, when Cassie was on there then, and had to contend with another rescuer. I don't remember how that one turned out. It looked just like Kane here and I stopped watching it. 21:36 not entirely Claire's best angle.

So so good...even after almost 40 years. Timeless. In general 1985 was the best season of the show incl. the cast. Of course the storylines were a little bit too much in some peoples opinion, but the show could afford it. Lots of glamorous moments, accombined by a beautiful OST, different versions of the best GL theme ever, which made the show even more special at that time since it was exclusively composed. My absolute favourites surrounded the Kyle and Reva storylines which also applies in that scene. Nevertheless in the end it might also be a question of who was the perfect match for Reva or Kim Zimmer, also from a acting point of view. For me clear as day...Kyle/Larkin Malloy was the one ! I really hope someday additional stuff will surface at YT, since there are so much treasures barried from that storyline....

Cool to see this all these years later....and the music when Reva runs away from the church is Barbra Streisand's version of "Somewhere" which they also used during Reva's suicide attempt.

Unfortunately I didn't watch that many of these full episodes back then and now I can't find them anymore. Am I doing something wrong while searching or have these episodes been removed from KZbin? Awful storyline, one of many from this very lackluster period. Insulting really; Maeve's actions, I mean was this their idea of a strong businesswoman? Actors made the most of this trite, rehashed material, but could only do so much. Just so convoluted, even by soap standards. This period saw a revolving door of writers, which resulted in a revolving door of both characters and storylines that went nowhere. It's no wonder at this time Soap Opera Digest did an article entitled "What's Wrong with Guiding Light?" And it was to get much worse before it got better with that craptacular Paul Velere murder mystery.

1986 was an absolutely awful, AWFUL year for the show, with its convoluted storylines and revolving door of characters. It was just unwatchable and nonsensical. Ironically enough, that same year proved to be top-notch for As The World Turns, what with the intro of the Snyders, Kim and Bob's later-in-life pregnancy, the Doug Cummings storyline and the Tad Channing murder. Plus, very notable was the way they were able to blend the less seasoned characters like Lucinda/Lily Walsh and the Snyders with long time regulars like the Hugheses, Stewarts and John Dixon. Also noteworthy was its having regular, working class characters like Steve and Betsy, which at this point was an anomaly in soap world. But Guiding Light was at this time just a bad General Hospital clone with forgettable and even embarassing storylines, and it was no surprise why so many of its top actors (Vincent Irizarry, Judi Evans, Jordan Clark) abandoned ship! Oh, and that first Dinah and that cherubic Dorie character, just the pits!
@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc6 ай бұрын
Eric, I agree with you. The terrible storylines and the constant recasting of popular characters is what made Guiding Light unwatchable.
@ericnelson91006 ай бұрын
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc They ruined the Claire Ramsey character, making into her a histrionic, neurotic shrill. And there was this trend of love triangles evolving into quadrangles, hexagons or even octagons, particularly the Reva-Kyle-Maeve-HB-Josh-Fletcher-and I think there were some others saga. And that Maeve storyline, taking away a child from his father instead of just sharing custody, and we were supposed to feel sorry for her when she lost custody; not to mention the way she used the Fletcher and Louie characters; and Flecther just stood by her as if this was normal; WTF? It just was always seeming as though it was always trying to top itself. And Reva getting run over after her wedding was aborted, in such a predictable and trite fashion; why was that even necessary. Not to mention done in such an unbelievably over-dramatic way.! Plus, introducing Calla-Jessie-Simon, bringing them to the forefront and then just left as fast as they came. The first Dinah, I know this sounds mean; but no way could Vanessa have given birth to her, and it was such a dull-as-dishwater performance. I think she had been on another P&G soap several years prior, and she was just as lackluster then. But of course the worst was to come in Spring 1987 with that awful Paul Velere murder storyline; just the worst! The writers had no idea where there were going on this storyline, and at some point everyone had been a suspect; even Mindy and Roxie were briefly arrested???? I know that the Warren Andres character had run his course, but having him be the culprit out of thin air, the motive having something to do with Warren being upset with Springfield over Lesley Ann's death (mind u that was 2 years earlier), somethin, something, something!!!! Luckily the show got a huge shot in the arm with head writer Pam Long's return that summer, and it really changed trajectory with that episode where a fed-up and sexually repressed Reva went out on the town in that sexy glittering red dress. After that it was mostly uphill for quite some time!

I just never bought into the Reva-Kyle romance. I'm sure Larkin Malloy was a big get for the show after his Edge of Night role but It just seemed forced by the writers and producers. The Reva/Josh chemistry was real. Fletcher had way more chemistry with Reva than Kyle IMO. They should have paired them.
