Thanks for this video mate!! You are exactly my height so I now know which size to go with. When purchasing in Australia the middle man that redistributes Memphis Shades notes on their website that each wind shield is an extra 3 inches taller when mounting to the road warrior fairing so it’s actually 14 inches. Was wondering do they display this information on the Memphis website assuming you buy direct from them as you live in the States. Cheers

Should have went with the PV-3B. Very useful tool. Unlimited tunes if purchased from Fuel Moto. Plus… they double the factory warranty.

Not sure if I would buy this one, my bike is still under warranty and I don’t want any excuses if anything arises that I would need the dealership to resolve
@Warren-RidesАй бұрын
I don't blame you there. The general consensus I've noticed is as soon as you do anything motor related you void the warranty.
@nhzxboiАй бұрын
It depends on if you care or not about the warranty( I do not). I waited the 1K miles to get that first service done. Then, I decided to do the cam, oil pump and all that fun stuff. I own the bike and just want to have fun with it. If I wreck it(mechanically), I just won't have the bike to ride until I can fix it. For me, buying it('23 FXLRS) outright rather than financing the thing made that decision easy. It's mine, it lasted 1K miles and should last quite a bit longer. So, I threw the cam and tune at it. Essentially it is a toy and my toy so I play with it how I want. I've only put 1K miles since the warranty-voiding work and it runs great. It sounds awesome, doesn't leak and feels great. Seriously, it feels great to dump the OEM exhaust and cam. Again, to me, it is a toy and boy oh boy, it is a much more fun toy now.

My bike is essentially the same as yours cam, pipe and all. I got the PV3 and like you, I did not buy it from FuelMoto and ended up buying a map from them. It worked fine but left my traction control light on. I ended up copying their maps into a base map that didn't turn the traction control light on. I made a few changes to the map and it runs very well with no traction control light on. Nice and lopey and loud.

I've watched a lot of videos on the process (probably all of the same videos you've watched), and while I feel confident that I could perform this procedure, I opted to let the a master tech at a local dealership do it on my bike because I was adding an oil cooler and was at a regular service interval. I did my 2011 FLHX full S&S 551C cam kit. You were smart to check crank runout I’ve seen new bike with over .010 runout crazy but true. S&S provides awesome instructions I called the tech line on a question during installation they were super helpful. Harley used to use a caged cam bearing they were junk. Any time you do a job like that new parts are always best gives you peace of mind. Sorry to hear that bolt locked up on you but it’s typical Harley quality control issues unfortunately. Did you bump the motor to prime the oil pump and tune the bike prior to running it, just curious great job hope you enjoy that new set up it’s awesome.

Jeez man...great video. Sounds like what would have happened to me had I decided to do my cam myself. I'm like you, fairly comfortable with my mechanical abilities...but there so many things like this that are just out of your control and hard to figure out when it's happening if it's your fault or not. Glad you got it resolved though...nothing like getting the job done yourself. Great videos, well edited and quality...nice job, brother.
@Warren-Rides2 ай бұрын
I'll admit I did feel vindicated when 6 other mechanics, much more accomplished than myself, were all challenged by the bolt. They think that the port for that one didn't get bored deep enough during the factory production so when a bolt got run down in there, it just wadded itself into a hardened mess. Those things happen though I suppose. Many thanks for the compliment.

So funny. I did the exact same to my '23 LRS yesterday (6/23). I found that my cam bearing was exactly the same as the "updated" bearing. Was a waste of time/tools to change but I did it anyway. Same Koyo part # and number of needles. HD must have made a running change to the newer bearing. My runout: .003".
@Warren-Rides2 ай бұрын
Ah, interesting. Thanks for sharing that. Ya it's a bit of a bummer to find out once you're already in there because, as you mention, the tools for the bearing swap aren't cheap. Maybe others can get a heads up from us sharing at least though. Enjoy the new cam!

@@Warren-Rides No kidding. I have to admit, I bought the Amazon knockoffs for the cam bearing tool and sprocket locking tool since I only planned to use them once. They both worked fine When I saw the same cam bearing I was surprised. Like you, I tutored myself through KZbin. I had no broken bolt though. That would have soured me a bunch.

Did you have to tune it after wards ?😊
@Warren-Rides2 ай бұрын
I elected not to tune it after just doing the exhaust. From what I gathered online, if you do either just a tune or just an exhaust you can get away without a tune. I had no issues, but I would say that if you think you might do intake and exahust, or even a stage II later on, you might as well buy the tuner now. I just recently finished my stage II where I did tune the bike and noticed the exhaust doesn't run as hot which is not only more pleasant but probably is a good inclination that, again while I didn't have any issues prior, it might not have been running "optimally". Hope that helps.

Even though I am RG color-blind, I had a great time with that class. B&W is fine with me.

Is interesting. I think it took about 500 miles to get used to my bike that is the same as yours....23 FXLRS. I was coming from an '06 YZFR1 which I still have. Switching back and forth between the two m-cycles is sorta fun. It keeps me on my toes. They are so different and I love them both. TBH, the Harley is like driving a truck insofar as shifting is concerned and the YZFR1 is definitely a race machine. It feels like a toy after the Harley but it definitely beats the HD on speed. With the FXLRS I'm sitting low. With the R1 I feel like I'm sitting way too high and I felt like I might break the shifter off(way less movement needed for the Yamaha but I was used to the HD.). Motorcycles are fun.
