honestly for me the best examples of this kind of thing was the more subtle moments with bad guy goons where they show you just them talking, being normal human beings etc.

The thing about Sokka saying he's "kinda like a prince" is... Sure, he sounds like a dork doing it. And his sister is quick to make fun. .............. But he _isn't wrong_ -- Hakoda is the Southern Water Tribe's chief. Equivalent position to what Yue's father is. Sokka and Katara's culture got completely trashed by a near-complete genocide and so they live a life with no glamour whatsoever (whereas the Northern Tribe escaped this fate, largely because the Fire Nation hyperfocussed on the Southern Tribe knowing the next avatar was meant to be born there) -- But Boomerang Boy absolutely _is_ a Prince of the Southern Water Tribe. A lot of his shittier attitude in Book 1 came from him playing up the machismo in an attempt to fill the shoes of the defacto chieftain when he's like 14, yanno?
