When I think of creation and time, I think of an ink stamp. Imagine God careful carving a rubber ink stamp that contains all the moments in time. He then dips it in the ink sponge and BAM! stamps it onto the paper. All of history exists at the same "time" (from His perspective), but we EXPERIENCE it moment by moment. So, I am currently sitting here typing this, but I am also raised up with him and seated with him in the heavenly places. The "me" of this moment just isn't experiencing that part of the stamp of time yet. My POV has also been impacted by an episode of "Agents of Shield" that described all of time as a book that has already been written and can't be changed.

Josh, this is a fascinating conversation. I love thinking about things like this because it is definitely true in SOME sense. We're just trying to figure out what that sense is. I left another comment addressing your brief comment on eternal conscious torment. I don't see that comment, so perhaps comments must be reviewed before they are allowed to appear. Anyway, I wasn't able to elaborate on my point at that time, so I will do so now. For the last 40 years, I was always completely convinced of the reality of eternal conscious torment and could rattle off the arguments for it easily. I would see videos posted by Christians like Chris Date and scroll past them feeling a great deal of annoyance that they were challenging something that was so clearly taught in the Bible. Then one day, out of boredom, I clicked on a video that was a debate between two believers in ETC (eternal conscious torment) and two believers in Conditional Immortality (the view that the torment of the damned is not eternal, but instead ends with the cessation of their existence as a conscious, living being). I thought it would be entertaining to watch the CI guys get smoked. Imagine my shock when the opposite happened. It wasn't even close! The CI teachers easily dismantled the ETC teachers' arguments...which were also MY OWN! Then I watched another debate between Date and another ETC teacher just to be sure the first debate wasn't some kind of fluke. That debate had the same outcome. So, because I want to be right and not just follow the teachings of men that I admire, I began to dig deeper into the issue of the fate of the damned - using the website Rethinking Hell as a main source for giving the CI group a fair hearing. I was surprised to learn that there isn't a single verse in 65 of the 66 books of the Bible that teaches eternal conscious torment. There ARE a couple of verses in the book of Revelation that seem to teach it...but there are far more verses in other books of the Bible that seem to teach conditional mortality. So, do I interpret the clear statements of the rest of the Bible by what is said in the most difficult, symbol-filled book in the Bible? That isn't the way we handle other doctrines... So, my current position is that...I'm not sure. 🙂 But I now definitely lean toward the view that immortality is conditional and only believers get it. As an example of how most Christians view verses about the fate of the damned through the theological goggles we have been trained to view them through, consider the verse you referenced in this video: Daniel 12:2. "And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt." The shame isn't said to be everlasting, only the contempt is. "Shame" tells us how the damned feel about themselves. "Everlasting contempt" tells us how someone ELSE feels about the damned. It doesn't tell us that the damned are alive eternally to feel that contempt. Most people have contempt for Adolph Hitler, but he isn't still alive. If God wiped him from all existence, we would still hold him in contempt. So, all this verse says is that some will be raised to eternal life and others will be raised, feel ashamed, then will be held in contempt eternally. It ALLOWS for ETC, but it doesn't TEACH it. Also, notice that Daniel doesn't contrast the way that God feels about believers vs. the way he feels about the damned (which might have looked like this: "And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting love and acceptance, but others to shame and everlasting contempt." No, as happens over and over, the contrast is between LIFE and something else. Another example is when Jesus said, "And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” The punishment of the damned is eternal because they are eternally deprived of life, whereas the believers GET eternal life. And we can't escape that "life" means life (not some theological redefinition that the original audience wouldn't have understood) because Paul wrote that Jesus "has brought life AND IMMORTALITY to light through the gospel." So, who gets immortality? Believers of the gospel. Are we supposed to redefine immortality, too, in order to preserve a traditional view of hell? "Wellll, yes, only believers get immortality, but unbelievers get to live forever." That seems like gobbledygook to me. One parting point: Paul never once mentions eternal conscious torment in hell. Not. Once. That is just bizarre. Like I said, Josh, I am not 100% convinced of CI, but I am 99% convinced. The thing i think about is the only sacrificial act worthy of our rejection is the sacrifice of Jesus. If that true, think about how that affects our traditional end times beliefs.

Hi guys. Appreciate your teaching and knowledge on this. I just listened to the part where you say those who are not pre-trib rapture believers get emotional or even pharisaic. That's unfortunate, but I also want to share that I see this multiple times more within the pre-tribulation camp. 9 out of 10 videos I watch now are from teachers who are pre-tribulation believers. I'd say 8 out of the 9 pre-trib teachers are hyper dogmatic about a pre-tribulation rapture. I myself believed in a pre-tribulation rapture for over 30 years. Then, about 3 years ago, I sought God for the truth on the end times and fasted/prayed. After this time of fasting, God led me to 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3. Even though it took me months of study to actually change my mind, that one verse was a massive spark that ignited what I now believe is the truth about when the resurrection (and therefore the rapture) happens - all according to scripture and confirmed by multiple Apostles throughout the New Testament. I try to encourage a balanced, wisdom-filled, approach to this topic because I see a GREAT danger in being staunchly dogmatic about a pre-tribulation rapture. Why? Because it's, most likely (but not in every person), removing critical defenses and preparations we should be making *if* a post-trib (or pre-wrath) rapture is true. As a comparison, what if Noah didn't make preparations for the flood? What if Joseph didn't make preparations for the famine?? Those decisions would have resulted in DIRE consequences. But whenever I try to lovingly share this with pre-trib believers, they either censor me, turn off comments in their videos (yes, they've actually done that and shared in subsequent videos that they refuse to allow "arguments" questioning the pre-trib rapture belief), or tell me I'm just confused, in error, not reading the scriptures, etc., etc.... They are THE MOST like the Pharisees that I've experienced in my 33+ years of being a follower of Jesus. I hope, and pray, the rapture is before the Tribulation. If so, that means we're going home REALLY REALLY soon! But we need to humble ourselves and stand on the side of wisdom because if all the hundreds of pre-tribulation rapture KZbin teachers are dogmatically preaching to their followers that the rapture is before the tribulation, and they happen to be wrong, how is this going to affect the faith and perseverance of tens of thousands of Christians?? I know not everyone would be negatively impacted if they're daily abiding in Christ, but as teachers, we need to be EXTREMELY careful what we're dogmatic about.

Stop speculating about dates, but read your Bible again, from the true Apostles perspective in Matthewe 24 and Revelation 20. The first 5 seals are the tribulation. The church is on the earth. Proof right here.
