Hello, thats an amazing fig tree. I live right outside of Portland and I'm starting an Organic Nursery. Would you be interested in selling all the wood you cut from your Negronne this winter? I need hundreds of cuttings and no one i know has a Negronne that large in the PNW. Thank you.
@BarbTalks-mu7smАй бұрын
I checked your handle above and don't see anything about about an organic nursery? If you contact Portland Nursery, Rain Tree Nursery, or One Green World, one of those businesses may be able to help you. Good luck :)

@BarbTalks-mu7sm yeah, this channel has nothing to do with my Nursery business. I'm actually a small wholesale Nursery that isn't open to the public. My family has been in the Nursery business for close to 50 years. Been in Boring/Sandy area my whole life. I've definitely went to those places you mentioned but no one has a Negronne and not even close to that size. If you ever trim it or need a trim, I'd love to get the refuse. I'd gladly pay you for them or trade for any Oriental tree of your choice. Thanks again.

I didn't know that salt candles the air. I found out a few years ago that I am part Swedish and Norwegian. That Swedish horse is called a Dala horse. Farmers in the Dalarna region craved them to use as child's toy.

Congrats on our newly discovered Swedish and Norwegian heritage :) My great grandfather began carving a horse for my dad (his grandson), but my dad starting playing with it before it was finished. So along with a decorated/painted traditional Dala horse, I also have a very well-loved rough unpainted horse that I treasure.

A wonderful review, thank you! I’m just about to plant 3 of these in Hobart. How long did your tree take to grow to fruiting maturity?
@BarbTalks-mu7sm2 ай бұрын
Hi @sylynlam3562, it took 3- 4 years to get fruit, from my memory. I looked up Hobart online - are you from the Hobart in Australia?

Yes that’s right Barb. With our cool temperate climate I thought that the earlier Izu variety might have an easier task maturing its fruit.

Thanks! I made this back when I was in grade school by just wrapping scotch tape around and around and around until it looked like a bunny LOL. I bet you could even do this faster with a thicker tape, such as painters tape? That's one of the joys of being a kid - you don't know what you're doing, so you just fiddle around/play until something happens. I think that's how my son (now 28) got so good at figuring out computers, games, logic - he just fiddled around with various online games and then figured out all the strategies. I hope you enjoy my back catalogue of memories, foibles, and things that bring me joy.

How do you prune that fig tree so that it’s so bushy and prolific?
@BarbTalks-mu7sm4 ай бұрын
I cut it back each year to keep it smaller. The new growth comes out and fills it out in the more bushy style. Since the spot I have my fig in is a small space next to the porch, I prune it kind of like an espalier so that it's wider than it is deep. I think this allows the sunshine to better penetrate to reach the figs so they ripen better.

Thanks for the video! How would you compare the Izu to the Fuyu persimmon?
@BarbTalks-mu7sm7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind response. I looked up Izu and Fuyu persimmons online, and found Izu and Fuyu are both non-astringent varieties of Asian persimmons. Izu is an early season, and Fuyu for late season fruits. More of what I found online below : The Izu persimmon is a Fuyu type variety that is non-astringent and can be eaten when firm crunchy. A medium-sized fruit with a round slightly, flat shape, the fruit has a bright orange skin with gold orange hues. The flesh is a pale orange with a rich honey sweet flavor. Izu Persimmon » Store » - Tomorrow's Harvest tomorrowsharvest.com Also 'Giant Fuyu' persimmon is twice the size of a normal persimmon but has the same flavor and a rounder shape. 'Izu' persimmon is a natural dwarf variety. The fruit has the same flavor, shape and size, but the size of the tree is more manageable and great for small gardens.Oct 9, 2023 Rose's Persimmon Recommendations and What is the difference between Fuyu and Izu persimmons? 'Izu' is the choice for the early season, 'Matsumoto' Wase' for the mid-season, and 'Fuyu' for the late season. 'Fuyu' is the most readily available and is generally considered the best commercial non astringent cultivar in Florida. Small to medium-sized, oblong-conical fruit. Skin reddish orange.Nov 18, 2014 Persimmon Varieties - Growables I like my Izu persimmon tree because I can keep it pruned small enough to pick easily with only a short 6 ft ladder. I also like that the fruit is so delicious, and can be eaten in it's crunchy early stage, or let it sit and ripen indoors until it's soft and full-flavored. Hope this helps :)

I walked a little over a half mile to school in 2nd grade. One day on the way home my walking buddy Cindy asked if I'd like to play Barbies as I was dropping her off. I was delighted to be invited but told her I didn't have a Barbie. She said she had extras. So we had lots of fun as she taught me something new. I think her mom gave us a snack too. When I got home I was in big trouble for being late. There was a spanking.
