My friend who I grew up with in school, his dad made a video just like this, the last paper had the word “fix” crossed out and replaced with “help.”

Thank you sharing your journey!!!! We are always always always wanting to know why MORE hasn’t been done for our babies in comparison to other medical conditions from NIH. But as parents, we will never give in, give up, or stop fighting for them. ❤️❤️❤️

She did... But she wasn't sure it was the Hamilton set. In her defense she was blindfolded and with headphones for over an hour. 😁

In the comments below there are many autistic people who are offended by this. There are varying degrees of ASD from slight to severe. If they were severe they would not be able to comment, would be in nappies and non verbal

To me "FIX" means fixing the world around autism. Insurance, safety, awareness, & acceptance. "FIX" it so they can have the best life we can give them.

Autism is another type of normal. We don't need 'fixing' or 'curing'. I like being autistic.
@warrioryoga689 жыл бұрын
+atomicsnowflake my daughter was just diagnosed with autism. I view it as a challenge at times but she is perfect the way she is. All autistic people are!!! There is a quote I learned that applies my poor daughter heard it all the time its is it is better to remain silent and be seen as a fool then to open ones mouth and remove all doubt. My daughter has tought me to follow this quote. My daughter inspired me to work with children with special needs and adults so she tought me compassion deeper then I have ever known. I am looking to make yoga for autism to calm down the sensory over load to help calm the mind. When my research is done I am going to be posting the routines and condition info here on youtube to create awareness and to help the community in general. To everyone here with autism and family members of these amazing people I support and am with you. What I guess would be referred to as normal society (sorry if this offends please correct me on the term if I am wrong please) can learn a great deal from autistic people. Autistic people feel deeper, think more before talking and are very empathetic but society horribly mislabels these people as not being normal? What is normal anyways we all go to our own beats anyways may as well enjoy the ride right? I'm sorry if this part upsets anyone here not my intent but I believe the same as many that this poor guy in the video meant well but I agree fixing or curing was a wrong choice to use but I feel it came from a place of love and was meant as sarcasm. I like many if was offered a cure for my daughter I would deny it because I feel it is a blessing not a curse. When people see my daughter they love her on site and the few ignorant people are usually dealt with by me or if I'm not around by people who know my daughter even new acquaintances. Ok so my daughter isn't talking the most yet but she loves animals and other people in a way I have never seen in a child before. How does that need to be fixed? I wish I knew sooner my daughter use to be really bad wouldn't even look at me or respond to her name or anything. Since her diagnosis I have changed everything and try to keep quiet allot and she is smiling all the time and trying to talk yesterday she said a 6 word sentence and thats huge because you can barley get her to say a word on a good day. I'm sorry for my rambling everyone but I feel we need to be a community that supports one another over bickering over small things we need to fight for awareness, we need to fight for our children, and most importantly we have to unite and fight the bigotry and ignorance our children must face. The past generations have always said this is the next generations problem how about we end this cycle and be the generation that stood up for the people, the earth and equality for all people? Why not take a stand and say hell no were not going to take the injustice any longer? We are people we are not black, white, able or disabled we are human and we are perfectly imperfect we all are one in the same. One love everyone I hope this helped some people and empowered others. I love you all and lets keep up the good fight of equality, acceptance, and understanding.

Bravo! Excellent video, not just in content but the production as well. I understand why you put "fix' in quotes; in that you intend to help her integrate into society and that this is by no means any sort of admittance that she is any less of a "complete" person. I was reading a post recently that touched on a different attitude regarding those in the Spectrum... suggesting that the root of the 'problem' is not with the child as much as it is with societies demands on that child. The author points out that some of the greatest contributors to our society were in the Spectrum, and rather than try and teach them to deal with our world, we need to go into theirs to learn from them, rather then insist they learn from 'us'. The post is here if you care to read it -> legallyblindthebook.com/blog/perspective-needed
