Removing the TVs from the bedrooms helps a bunch. For kids and parents. Sticking to a routine and light restrictions have helped me to gain an average of 2-3 hours a night. Great trouble!!!

Accepting the unexpected path. Riding the wave 🌊 Perfect metaphor. A great message, fighting on behalf of others helps me move forward. All we can do is go with the flow. ❤

Beautiful! Acceptance is very hard. What is normal? There is no such thing. Rebranding Parkinson's and rebranding ourselves. Yes lets!

We never even talked about branding or treating the untreated! That’s OK it was time well spent. Although I don’t believe we can brand, if what you’re talking about is giving hope and perspective to newly diagnosed, I’m 100% for it! So this is me essentially unmedicated after 16 years. Pretty rough, but maybe not as bad as people fear. When medicated and stimulated I’m much better. I’ve been fortunate, I know, but some can even have better outcomes than me. It’s hard as hell, yes, but life is still fulfilling. Prospects are even better for those in the future. We can progress ourselves at far greater pace than disease progression. Imagine knowing this from day one!

Ha! You're right. I realized that, too, after our last episode. As I said, there will be more. It's relatively new and sure to be ongoing discussion. I expect it to be messy as I hope to hear from all sides as it affects so many. I definitely agree with you about the power of hope, hard work, purpose and finding fulfillment in new and unexpected ways. I was glad we found our way to, perhaps, the most profound word I've been wrestling with for some time (that's why It's the title of my book): Acceptance.

Good stuff! I would say the objective might be to unbrand Parkinson’s. I don’t think any of us can or should rebrand it though.
@yesand26 күн бұрын
Thank you, Gavin. Can you take this further? By unbrand, do you mean to have no definition of it? And by saying none of us can or should rebrand it, aren't we then just allowing it to be exactly what it is right now - defined by various institutions or others that make it their business to do so? I don't think we can remove PD from where we live with it - to be specific, I mean those of us in the U.S.. As a capitalist nation without central health care, that means there is competition to define diseases. Right or wrong, that's how the disease (if that's the right term) is approached here. My argument is that since a brand is necessary to give us what we need (funding, research, support, better treatment, etc.) because you don't get those things without understanding, we (especially those living with PD - diagnosed, care partners and family) MUST speak up and be part of the rebranding process so there is greater understanding. Just my two cents. I'd be happy to have you on a dose to discuss this further and hear more about your thoughts.

@ yeah that’s some really good stuff. Thank you for the invite. I’ll accept but only if we do two parts. First part about those who lack any treatment around the world. I know it makes me sound like a d*** but in my mind it’s the only thing worth talking about right now. I will say that you definitely have the right idea about improv. Now continue to extend that and let go of whatever anyone wants to say about us and exert control over ourselves. Allow things to happen organically. People don’t buy into being told how to brand themselves.

2019. Five years of development. So much has happened since then. Again I thank my lucky stars for finding this group. Again, 2019 was a pivotal year in my independent research about PD anxiety and how it affects our symptoms. I'm right where I need to be. Timing is everything. Thank you for helping me find a way to help us all with our stories.
