When this video came out, I didn't even know what disc golf was. I saw the baskets and didn't know what they were for. I am 30 now and am 4 years into this addiction.

Ish I would have seen this when it came out, I could have started disc golf way sooner! I also find that when I play for the pleasure rather than score, my score ends up better too

I used to play with the local pros every day. I was really good and really competitive. Then I got old and had some injuries. Now I can’t throw nearly as far off the tee. I mess up some of my upshots. I miss more putts but I don’t care about my score anymore. I know I can’t get a score as good as I used to now so there’s no use trying. I don’t even care if I miss a putt now. I’m just out there to play. I used to shoot 10- on my home course every day. Now I’m finishing even or even over par but I’ve found that I enjoy myself more. I have way more fun playing now than I did when I was much better and tried harder. I enjoy the sport more now and get more from it even though my score is never as good as it used to be.

@@craigcampbell1843 as it should be. I was a former division 1 hurdler and fiercely competitive in everything I did. Now at 40 years old I am just grateful for all the blessings I have. Plus I get to live thru my baby boy now lol.

This was probably one of the best illustrations of how disc fly. Especially when you can see the actual flight.

Perfect explanation. I have trawled through a lot of very confusing videos that make a total mess of explaining this stuff. The guy in this video is hilarious too.

Alright--I'm a newbie, and I'm confused here--someone please help me out. If you're shots are fading to the right, that means you might need a higher speed disc--that's what this video said around the half-way point. But, how am I only supposed to upgrade when I am throwing my mids 300ft if they keep fading right even with heizer landing at close to 150ft...? I'm trying here, and drilling all the technique, fundamentals, and throwing as much as I can, but I'm not seeing any change. Can someone tell me what might help...? That'd be awesome...

Important to note that if you're not throwing a driver or midrange fast enough, a putter will go farther

After using Photogrammetry to make 3D computer models of real world golf discs and putting those discs inside computer/virtual wind tunnels I learned golf discs don't fly. At least not in the manner described by, "Because of the Frisbee's curved shape, the airflow above it must travel at a higher velocity than that underneath, thereby creating low pressure above and high pressure below the disk. This pressure difference provides the lift. " The wind tunnel showed "lift" to be practically nonexistent at the speeds an average person throws a Frisbee. The only way to get the golf discs to "simulate" flight and stay in the air was to increase the discs speed through the air. (As in with enough thrust/speed you can get anything to fly...even a brick.) Good luck wit'dat.

Its been a log time since I've thrown a disc. I wish I had this info "back in the day". Very good video on explaining the physics, etc, of discs.

Good basic information. However I believe you’ve overlooked the most important factor of disc throwing. Amount of spin.
@justinross96605 жыл бұрын
Warning! this is great for basics but don't learn from these forms they are horrible forms and will result in bad form habits. They are, : Rounding -No weight transfer - No follow through - Nose up ect. ect.
