Johnny Cash and June Carter were the first couple of Country music just like Sir Paul McCartney and Lady Linda McCartney were the first couple of Rock music 😊❤

Trent wrote some beautiful words to this song about injecting drugs. The needle tears a hole, for example, the old familiar sting, he goes on, and on, . In Cash’s lyrics we hear a different storey of the end of life and passing away naturally.

Johnny understood regret, and why it's powerful and necessary. It is a teacher. It is a strengthener. Johnny was wise and strong because he felt that hurt. He made this song his because his life mirrored the words Trent wrote. Even approaching death, Johnny took inventory of his life and deeds, and he felt sorrow for the mistakes. This was song was his last confession. We need know no more. May he rest in eternity in peace.

uHMMM 9 inch nails was not an underground band. Anyone who was paying attention to music knew exactly what NIN was.

Johnny was said to have past away within 5 months of June. The same is true for both sets of grandparents I had. Being over a half century old, I feel the same will happen with me and my wife😞❤️🙏

We forget we can’t take all our material possessions with us in the end. And what really matters is love and time wasted over a life It turned out to be his epitaph

Anytime I/we watched Johnny Cash, we all smiled. Why? Because we knew that everything he did or said was from a very REAL place in his own life and in his heart. He was REAL. Period. He did not pretend to be anything but himself, warts and all, both good with the bad. He was HONEST and it came out through his music, in honesty of his own messes and pleasures in life, honest with injustice in the world, just plain honest...and real...always real. So many artist today, it seems, hide behind a facade of their or corporate making. He was the opposite. One of the most amazing and powerful artist I have ever seen and heard.

Recently I have been trying to inoculate my emotional response to this by watching new responses to the video from people who have never seen it on YT. NOPE. It still destroys me.

Mr Cash knew from the first moment he heard the original lyrics and recording. A beautifully dark, honest and beautiful song. Reznor wrote it and gave it to the man in black because at at the end of day the man is black owned it. As was said he wrote his ending.

Johnny Cash covered _Hurt_ so well, people that have never heard of NIN think it's his. It's a lot like what happened with Charles Bradley's cover of Black Sabbath's _Changes_

What a beautiful Man. Role model all my life. The talent, the truthfulness, the spiritual side. The ruggedness, just the soul you felt along with the humor. Just a beautiful portrait of how to be a man, for me growing up and watching him. He was my Dads best buddy...like an uncle...Out in the garage with my Dad and Johnny Cash playing all through my childhood. Molded my life. What an honor to live while he did.
