Hi I have a question about popper scooper vehicles. Would you be able to tell me if you think an enclosed trailer, maybe 6×12 or a little bigger, would work. My concerns would be parking, but then again, lawn services use them. Thanks!

im very interested in starting this business. But I want to save enough money to go all in from the jump with the right equipment, money for ads, the right presentation so I'd don't look like a an unserious business. I've had other businesses in the past and I wanna hit the ground running. I want my car wrapped. None of this is a ton of money. The question I have is, is this a business that is likely to be highly profitable relatively quickly? Certainly looks promising.

For pricing 1st time scoops, say 2 dogs, it’s the same price whether it’s been 6 days, 6 months or 6 years since they picked up poop last?
@petwastemillionaire29 күн бұрын
I believe that if you acquired a new client and it is their first service, it doesn't matter if it has been 6 years since they picked up the poop, charge them the price you would charge someone who picked it up yesterday... on the first service. Yes, it will be a lot more work, but it will show the client that you care and may just get you a client for life.

Great content; I subscribed. What are your thoughts on starting this business and letting the customer know I can only fit them into a Saturday or Sunday schedule? I would like to know if that is a problem because I want to start this while working my full-time job Mon-Fri.
@petwastemillionaireАй бұрын
Thank you so much! Limiting your clients to only Saturday or Sunday has a couple of potential downfalls. 1) It limits the amount of customers you can actually service (only having two days in which to scoop every house) and 2) A lot of people have the weekends off of work, which could give them the time and opportunity to pick up their own dog poop, creating a situation where they might not need the service. To start as a side hustle, absolutely give it a shot. When you get to a point where the weekends are completely booked with clients houses to scoop, you could always reevaluate to determine if you should hire an employee or two and add service during the week.
@JHeu89Ай бұрын
@@petwastemillionaire Thank you for your insight. While I had considered that limiting to only Saturdays or Sundays could restrict the number of customers I can serve, I hadn’t thought about people having time to do it themselves on weekends. I’ll look into finding help during weekdays until I can grow the business enough to quit my job. Your advice has been helpful and is much appreciated!

@petwastemillionaireАй бұрын
How much the franchisees make is dependent on the territory they own, whether or not they acquired an enhanced territory or are starting with zero clients, and the conversion of leads to clients. As far as how much they keep, it depends on their contract.

"anybody can do it so you can do it" - hence your objections are invalid. also, "confidence is a matter of training." The last 2-3 sentences translated: I want you to do this voluntarily. Nice paradox here, brother.

Happy New Year, @fuzzibert! While I appreciate the constructive criticism, motivating a team is a tad bit harder than giving and believing that your opinion is the only correct one. I care very much about the feelings of my team. As a leader, I listen to my team and work to motivate each person in a way the can feel inspired. This purpose of this talk (much of what you didn't see) was to be transparent with the team in regards to goals hit and goals missed, and to inspire each of them to take ownership of the roles they are in, and give them confidence (training) to go after the role they want. Hi guys I want to leave some constructive feedback. Im in business and looking to diversify into pet waste. I started watching your vids but I stopped because I found them too self indulgent ( sorry) . Takes too long to get to any useful information as there is so much chit chat and not focused enough on business info. In sharp contrast Scoop Starts channel gets straight to the business details so I watch that every day. Just today I looked at the differences between the channels / time running / subs / vids .... I cant help but thinking in three months Scoop Start have 3k subs + and only 60 vids precisely because they get straight to business and dont waste the viewers time with chit chat between hosts. If there was a clear split between ' having fun ' vids and ' business info ' vids rather than combining them the subs would def go up ❤

Thanks for the feedback. We love Scoop Start! They teach some good stuff. But be careful, it's not as easy as it sounds. Otherwise, our page is not the same and is going to have far more variety of content starting with covering my journey as an entrepreneur, but others in the future as well. We aren't building a university. We are trying to bring awareness to the whole industry, entertain, inspire and document. Hopefully something can also be taught through all that. Best of luck. Keep learning.

We do not charge more for a larger yard until it gets to be sizably larger (an acre or more). When we charge ,the way we determine that is based on the amount of time we spend in a yard compared to a more standard sized yard. It's not based on a percentage.

Look at your local competitors to see what they are charging, and decide how competitive you want to be. You could base your price on the amount of dogs and/or the square footage of the yard, based on the time it takes you to complete the job.

@petwastemillionaire I'm not saying that I disapprove of them not picking up, I'm just confused about how it's not breaking down quicker than that. I wonder if it's a matter of what kind of food they're giving their dogs, if some have preservatives that keep the waste there much longer than others

No disrespect to you i agree with small startup from a car if thats all you can get going with but if you need to scale up then Personally, i think this trade / service should be using vans for many reasons. I have been converting vans into customised service vehicles for 20 years. A van like the size of a vw transporter that can park in a standard parking spot. seal off 1/3 in the back of the van for waste along with dirty tools and has good ventilation air flow. The side door should be set up with seating with hand washing facilities,first aid, a place to hang wet clothes, and get changed. Heating /ventilation and Porta potty in case of need. Also a place to have your lunch or just sit down, time is money you can stay on the job this way, sit down out of sight without feeling like a fish in a glass bowl in the cab .A small trailer for the bigger jobs ,single axel whenever it's needed. Coming from lreland, where it rains a lot, it would make no sense to work from a truck as everything would be wet and miserable. A van would be more fuel economic because of no wind drag in the bed of the truck. It sounds like an expensive setup, but it can be done on a budget. I don't want to come across as condescending I do respect everyone out there doing what they can dou with whatever they have. Regards Derick
@jmarko872021 күн бұрын
@@derickdavorenablearen’t these cargo transport vans even more costly? How would you ventilate it? I would think a minivan would get better fuel efficiency than the cargo vans. Just wondering how to ventilate and keep the smell out…
@derickdavorenable20 күн бұрын
@jmarko8720 Hi. So cargo vans are cheaper in Ireland and the UK. Compared to pickup trucks. And our diesel vans are cheaper to run than pickup tucks Regarding ventilation, I would put a partition wall dividing the back of the van into 2 areas. Then seal up the back section at the rear so it could be power hosed out and no water could get through to the front section. Then 2 large vents in the roof possably fan asaited and 2 more vents in the floor.
