would it be possible to put a pop-up roof *on* the Volkswagen roof? so the height of the upstairs bedroom could be increased?

Are you self tapping screws straight into the plywood and into the van roof for your support beams? won't we cause leaks?

The foil insulation and insulation tape is fine. The idea is to stop the hot air reaching the cold panel as this will cause condensation.

Great honest video. One thing you didn’t mention that is a big advantage for the eberspacher is the ability to plug into diagnostics that being if your near a repairer with the appropriate software, I’ll be honest I have used eberspacher for years until recently sold the last horse box and left the heater in it. On our new truck I fitted the Chinese heater and did notice the obvious little difference in quality but to be honest for the difference in price you would expect it but it runs exactly the same and does everything it’s supposed too. I paid 120 for it so even if it lasted a couple of years it’s cheap enough to throw away and replace. 👍

Anyone know what type of connector to use to charge the battery with solar panel and also what is the input voltage range for PV?

Thanks for the review. Just got one of these (original green version) and, with the caveat that it's not 'pro kit' I quite like it. Even for the nostalgia of it. I have a question though - Does anyone know what the four screws are for in the accessories kit please ? Update: Had another look and it looks like there are 4 holes at the bottom of the box and the screws are for screwing it down to a workbench. The box is quite light without the tool bag in it so kind of makes sense ... until you want to move it.

I’d put the bed in first just in case the bolts end up where the tank is.

Why do some put the primer on the van as well as the glass? Your way seems better seeing it stops the primer running down the paintwork

Greetings, I am very concerned about diesel fumes pervading the cabin. I can see where a vented lid with one way air flow would be good at keeping the fumes out of the van because the fuel removed as the heater is used must be replaced by air. Questions::1) Does the tank have a vent? Have you had any issue with diesel vapors? Thanks!

How do you this on a 2017 Transit Custom? The sliding door has deadlocked shut and cannot open from the inside or outside I suspect it's either a fault wiring loom or the cable for opening on the outside has dislodged from the eyehook in the lock mechanism. I cannot remove the lock and it's driving me crazy.
@androidloid2191Ай бұрын
I've just installed a second-hand sliding door lock and now the door won't open from the inside and outside. The lock works with the keyfob and I think the manual switch for the child lock is on so cannot open from the inside anyway. The sliding door won't open from the outside. How strange is that?

Offcourse you can use this in a campervan, if you link directly the 12v 30 amp output to your campervan fusebox..and get rid of the complex overpriced victron system..plug and play, deplug it easy and charge it anywhere you want it outside the van. That is for me the biggest advantage!

I heard there is a 2 kilowatt and 5 kilowatt model. Does the smaller 2 kilowatt draw less electricity? Does this mean an auxiliary battery is required regardless of model?
@simplycampervanconversions2 ай бұрын
You’ll need an auxiliary battery regardless, I’d never run it direct from the vehicle battery just in case you make it flat over night and can’t drive the following morning.

Thanks for the heads up. I like the other one just because the the fuel tank is further away and it's larger. Now all I need to know is the difference between 5kw and 8kw, they appear to have the same heat output.

There is absolutely no difference what so ever! Same heater, most companies call them 5 to 8kw. But they’re just 5kw heaters all of them.

@PeterPanoramics2 ай бұрын
I installed my heater outside under the van, only the heat output tube enters the van through the floor
@simplycampervanconversions2 ай бұрын
What about the hot air input at the rear of the heater? If that’s also open under your van then your exhaust could be feeding gas in. I would also pipe that into the van so it’s not giving you carbon monoxide poisoning and also it’s better for heating up as you’re not always heating cold air from outside.
@PeterPanoramics2 ай бұрын
@simplycampervanconversions my deisel heater is only ever on when I'm stationary, the heater off the water cooling system from the subaru engine works 🙂 👍
@simplycampervanconversions2 ай бұрын
@@PeterPanoramics i mean your diesel heater exhaust. You have the exhaust going out under the van where the cabin air intake is pulling air in and sending it into the van.
@PeterPanoramics2 ай бұрын
@@simplycampervanconversions ah OK good point I'll extended the exhaust pipe to back end by engine exhaust

What’s interesting is you specifically mentioned mounting the pump at a 45 degree angle but when hooking up the fuel lines, you inadvertently moved it to angle opposite of what you had it.
