I purchased a Samsung washer & dryer.Washer stopped working. Called customer service at Lowes they said to contact Samsung, you can never speak with anyone for over 5 minutes you are routed to a text message support system. The messages go on and on from 1 person to another. 2 hours later then i was told a dongle would be sent. Received with no instructions. The dongle set up is easy but didn't update my washer failed 5 times. So once again getting in contact with Samsung customer service, they are sending repair person, it's through Sears. I scheduled with them then they cancelled on me, so we rescheduled. The day of the appoinment the Sears service guy quotes me higher than the price given. I told him to find out the issue the dongle is not updating software. He told me i WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING. tHIS IS A RECALL ISSUE I told him, please don't say another word about cost just find out what it is.

You have to contact the customer service. Usually, you'll get this dongle, as your machine has been recalled due to a firmware issue which can lead in overheating and burning

I randomly received the dongle and thought it was really weird and threw it in a drawer, expecting to actually contact someone and find out what's what after not being able to find anything online at the time. Now I can't remember where it is 🤣. My bad.

this is the worse machine i have had in 60 yrs of my life cant get co. to help u make it work right refuse to have anyone come out will not stay balanced and shuts of have trouble getting clothes out because of child lock bad thing on a machine. wait till warrenty ran out trying to get samsung to hepl. so not more samsung og digetile Going back to the old machine never a problem. Hope noone else buys your machines

I am soo upset...I got a washer and dryer a few years ago. Now the washer is not working and of course it's out of the warranty. I lost my job a little less then a year ago and there is no way I can buy a new one. This is what will take me over the edge! 😢 why I just want to lay down and cry! I am done fight to keep my head above water done!

If the washer is not working and on a recall list, then it's allready affected to the issue. Samsung will then repair your washer at no cost even if it's out of warranty. That video here is for these washers who got recalled

Literally spent around 2 hours trying to connect my washer to wifi and it won’t register, they suggest I go through a bunch of bs to try and get it to work. Yeah how I wanted to spend my day

I ordered the Dongle on 2/2 23, they said they would send it out right away . Today is 2/9, haven't received it. I hope my washer doesn't blow up.

Samsung has made it ridiculous to update. I have the app, added the washer, and it doesn't update even after following all the instructions on their site. You have to turn off for 30 minutes then wait another 60 minutes according to their site. Wtf. Why can't it just be simple like all my other home appliances. Alao the app you are forced to use has ridiculous permissions. Why do you need a full list of my contacts???? So unhappy with Samsung even after paying a premium to avoid crap like this 😪

This is a fkn joke. My washer won’t even get past step ONE of the manual/software fix so I HAVE to have a dongle. But they are making this a complete PITA. Obviously, I will never buy another Samsung washer good grief. Never had a problem with any of my other washers before like this. And just so you know SamSucks, if my fkn house catches fire I WILL OWN YOU.

The Samsung recall web page links to this video. However the recall page nor this video have any link to where you can actually order the dongle. They are happy to try to get you to use a Samsung account to get an app and hook to some server in the cloud to get the update. Washing machine talking to server? Open to who knows what? I don't think so. Samsung - Make this dongle available to owners who need the update. Can we all say "Class Action Law Suit"?

I understand where you are coming from, and I want a Dongle too. On Samsung's website look below the videos. It will have two options to contact them via email or chat. I emailed them a couple of hours ago and gave them my information. They sent a quick reply saying they will be sending a Dongle, but needed more information. I skipped a letter in the serial number, so make sure to check everything. Here is the list they sent me that they need to send you a Dongle, so have the information ready: Model #, Serial#, First Name, Last name, Address, City, State, Zip code, Phone #, and Email.

@@handyman4048 I added a new comment. Hope this helps. KZbin doesn't like adding hyperlinks, so I took them out. The videos I was referring to are the videos in the website that is in the original Samsung Recall email notice; the same video links that brought people like me here. Perhaps if you added some more information, I wouldn't have had to spend more time here, but I have time to spare. It didn't take me much time to reason this out and it took longer to get a comment to go through KZbin's censors than it did requesting a Dongle through Samsung.

HOW DO I GET THIS DANGLE and it says that I got a notice I did not. How do I get this dongle and I spent over $1000 on this XIDJDK!!! washing machine and you have the nerve to make me fix it myself. I have four Samsung Smart TVs and a $800 and a Smart Phonhe, I am serious if this happens again another I am OUT OF SAMSUNG forever. I guess I'll buy a Sony TV and my washer and dryers will be Top of the Line Whirlpool.

Spent hours trying to get this to work and troubleshooting why I kept getting errors. And since I had never connected to WIFI before this was foreign when asked to join e washer network versus my own. Instructions Not easy to follow. Now that I thought I was finally there I still know if went through. It would be nice to see download completed or something.

for anyone stuck on “update available” not showing up the same thing happened to me but when i went to the planner tab in the washing machine tab the update option should be there. the instruction screen won’t pop up unless you click it, then once you click start you’ll have to start the machine the “dn” showed up for me then disappeared without flashing. but once it disappeared completely i couldn’t turn it on so i waited the 15 minutes then after i could turn it on again when i went to the information tab it had the 91 so i’m assuming that it worked.

Thank you for this video - update went like a champ. It was much easier than I first imagined it would be! Now the refrigerator wants to chat me up. I'm guessing the dryer is next. I'm trying to decide if I like having all these smart appliances. I suppose I shouldn't have watched the latest Terminator movie before doing the update. 😳

Kathy, texting works, although you're trading thoughts with a computer. I guess it's what the world's coming to. Nobody wants to work anymore and big companies are the worst. I did discover after a couple of days of frustration that our machine already had the update. apparently the machines delivered in the last months of 2022 had the fix. If you haven't already, just turn on the machine and press the following button in this order: Temp-Spin-Rinse-Spin. The number 001 will appear followed by the software version number. Mine was 91, which is greater than 85, making it good to go. Sure hope I never have to visit a Samsung issue again,

Mine was delivered in November 22 - software version was in the thirties. Can't depend on date of delivery when deciding if the update is needed or not. You definitely need to go through the steps and verify, even if you think it may be unnecessary.

Would be nice if the update also didn’t delete the washer from the smart things app. Can’t reestablish a connection with washer and app because the error code 9c8 won’t allow you to get the Smart Control to go to ap mode to connect. Anyone have a work around this issue? Had to call out service

2:33 For everyone that is unable to see the update. I would check to see if it has already been updated. 3:00 just like it states in line 7, software version 85 or higher means it’s updated.

Mine stays in registering mode for eternity and never flipping registers. How about Samsung just sends me a new washer because this is bullshit! Move the device closer to the WiFi router, move the obstacles between the two... like what, the wall? This is stupid. So now I’m gonna catch fire. Samsung, do better. Complaints coming your way.

Ashley, After an hour I powered up the washer...nothing about an update. I checked the Information Version Info. Not sure I understand the reference to the numbers. First row of numbers is 02986A221217(A131) Second Row 21093150,22121391, Third Row 21042702,FFFFFFFF Controller Version WW(D).SC.0.473/2.0........ Any Guesses? Frankly, I have no idea where to go from here. I still have a backup plan to have the Samsung Tech pay us a visit.

You're looking for the 91 at the end of the 2nd row. It says anything ending in 85 or higher is the updated software

Washer needs the update. What you have to do that isn't explained so well, is that after you sync to your phone you have to turn off the washer and leave it connected in the App. Then let it sit. In my case I walked away a few hours. Then I came back and turned on my washer. The App then alerted me to an update. The problem I'm having is that when I click on the update it brings me to the "Laundry Planner" every single time. Samsung definitely does not get my vote of confidence.

How about printed step by step instructions??? Nice music, award winning video but unless you're already a Samsung tech it's worthless. AND there is not a single word in the manual about the wifi capabilties.

It was fairly easy once figured out. Keep in mind you need wifi at your home for this to work. (It also says if you dont have wifi contact Samsung for a thing to manially plug in for the update) Just download the ap if you dont have it already, open the ap, and follow the set up steps the ap prompts, then while standing next to your washing machine click add the device and follow the steps the ap prompts you with. It shows scanning the QR code in the video but its not necessary if pressing the smart control button when prompted to do so while standing next to the washer. Then once the device has been successfully added, turn it off, wait a fulll 60 minutes. Turn it back on and while standing next to it, look in the ap and it should say that an update is available. Click the device, and press NEXT, Then press START. Wait a full 15 minutes. Your washer will turn off on its own thats normal just wait the full 15 minutes then turn the washer back on. It should be updated. You can check by clicking the 3 dots in the top right corner and clicking information. If the second number ends in a number 85 or higher youre good.

I tried to order the dongle but alas, Samsung says none are available. I downloaded the "one app does everything" SmartThings but no luck, and none of the steps included a QR Code...so far. I'll try again, but there is hope Samsung has arranged for a tech to come by next week. I can cancel if your help reply works. Thanks Ashley

I checked my serial number and my washer needs the update. I downloaded the app and connected washer. Turned on the washer after hour and forty minutes and I’m not getting the software update notice.

Service repaired mine and now it says EB 56 as software version. My old control panel was jt 91 but still throwing error code. I can't get answer from Samsung if the EB 56 is correct after parts replaced.
