That was the second day I did in Moab in April '24 with my new ZR2. After stumbling upon them on Google maps, and then researching them, I knew that the next time I was there, I needed to go. I came down Schafer Trail and went thru there until the paved road. Unfortunately the colors weren't as brilliant as I've seen in some pics, but I guess that's just a matter of bad timing on my part as they change during the season. Still an awesome trip though, and honestly, I liked the road from the bottom of Schafer thru Potash to the road better than Schafer itself. It was still super scenic and you could actually stop and enjoy it more and not worry about driving off the edge! Again, hope to be able to meet up with you guys out there one day! I'm hoping to get out there in the fall if my work schedule permits and I don't need shoulder surgery. Nice vid as always!

Did Gemini Bridges both ways this last Monday (8/12/2024) and LOVED it! As a noob driver it was a little sketchy at the very top, not because it was overly difficult, but I kept worrying about oncoming traffic. Luckily, I basically saw none all day. I did it forwards, then turned around and did it backwards. There were a couple places where there were much harder optional lines that I avoided, being totally alone (and a noob), but for the most part I picked the hardest line every time and the truck (more than me) breezed right through it. Found a neat little road into a box canyon I took that was actually some of the most difficult stuff technically, a deep sandy wash with steep approach angles, that I had to cross several times, it was TOTAL blast! Even did the hike to the "bridges". Thanks for the excellent video and showing me a new trail to run!

Nice footage as always! I was out there mid-April. As a driver (solo) I found it was difficult to really enjoy the views as with the new truck where I wasn't confident where the corners were, I was concentrating on just driving it. I actually found it a little more sketchy right at the top with the ruts, but that was just me being new to the truck (just 1,000mi on it). I really need to get a GoPro so that I can enjoy it AFTER the fact. Looks like you had a good run at it, no traffic coming up. I had to pull over a couple times, which was a little sketchy for me, but I was looking for that and when I saw uphill vehicles I was able to pick a good spot to pull over (in the switchbacks) and just waited for several packs (herds? LOL) of Jeeps to come up. I think I was able to enjoy the road to Potash Lakes better, because there I was able to pull over whenever I wanted to take pics. Hopefully I'll see you guys out on the trail one of these days, I plan on going back maybe in the fall.
@EAOffroad5 ай бұрын
@@kx8960 thank you!! I was in the same boat as you the first time I went. I’m glad I had the GoPro going so I could capture it and see it later because I was super concentrated putting the truck in the right spot and missed some of the scenic parts. We went early in the morning so it was nice not having to deal with the traffic! We took shafer to potash to long canyon trail. Makes for a fun route!
@kx89605 ай бұрын
@@EAOffroad Yeah, I think I'll do it again, now that I know my truck better, I'm more confident in it knowing the turning radius etc. Since the Raptor is bigger I can imagine all the trails are that much narrower. Every time I wanted to sightsee I had to remind myself NOT to go where I was looking (as on a motorcycle - target fixation)! I think next time I'll stop every so often (traffic permitting) and get a pic out the window when I can. I wanted to pursue Jug Handle Trail at the end of that day, but didn't know the difficulty and was running out of daylight. That definitely is a nice route though, nice vid!

Wow, another great vid, and another great trail! As I said, being a noob I want scenic but easy/moderate trails, and these kinds of videos are PERFECT since you really can't be sure about trail "ratings", which are subjective. I'd had this one on my list, just didn't have time to do it a couple months ago when I was there, but after seeing it, I'm DEFINITELY going to do it this time, and I'll try it "backwards". I think, for me at least, this trail would be a lot less sketchy than I found Hideout Canyon to be. That was a lot narrower, and that one long shelf climb was pretty butt-clenchy for me at least. Nice! I'll have to try this next time I'm in Moab. I saw your vid about Hideout Canyon, and did that last month when I was there in my '24 Colorado ZR2. I'm new to wheeling (though I "softroaded" in my RAV4 for years), so, I did that going up from Onion Creek to the top and on a couple sections, especially that long climb, it was a little butt-clenchy to me, but the ZR2 made it like it was nothing. This looks fun and a good one to "practice" on until I get competent, so, thanks!
