After the recent tornadoes and thunderstorms in the Houston area and a record hurricane season predicted, I decided to have these pines removed. I hated to cut down healthy trees but they are so large I felt they endangered the house and occupants. There were so many videos on the news of pine trees this large completely crushing houses and vehicles after the Derecho last month and at least six trees blown down in my own neighborhood.

PSS prop shaft seal was 15 years old and compressed as much as it could go and wasn’t dripless anymore. You’re supposed to change the bellows every six years, I just changed the whole thing, same amount of work as just changing the bellows. Max prop needed servicing too after 6 years, Propspeed coating put on shaft and prop and pressure wash while out.
@sailingin-tuitionwithchuck8 ай бұрын
And you replaced the shaft?
@tnick3408 ай бұрын
@@sailingin-tuitionwithchuck No, but it had to be removed and reinstalled to replace the seal. It was still in real good shape and so was the cutlass bearing. There’s a little play in the rudder, but they said it isn’t near as bad a they usually see.

@tnick340 thanks for sharing. I am still learning about all of this stuff. I bought In-Tuition about 4 years ago. I have now idea how old my dripless stuffing box is. I haven't seen any indication that it dripping and I haven't adjusted it. But I am sure it is coming.
